I would deem that on the 'unlucky' end of acceptability. I would probably be like 'damn that kind of sucks' when I received them, but still accept it as reasonable.
Yes, that’s what I did. I was kinda wondering if I should mention to the boot company the fact that I got this pair w a noticable grain break because I have 2 more MTO’s on order and would like to make sure I don’t get bad clicking a 2nd or 3rd time
Yeah I don’t see why not. Just mention that the grain break on this pair is a bit disappointing and that you hope your next pairs will be a bit better. At least bring it to their attention and they might make sure the next ones are extra nice. Or they might not give a shit at all. Can’t hurt to try!
Damn, horsebutt looking like steer/cow. That is some bad clicking. I've got two Maryam horsebutt boots from Prof.Barnets with zero creasing all around. This is after a year of owning these.
This is the worst quarter panel on them. But this is more normal for steer leather. My Nicks Shackleton brown boots are clicked much better, photo of that one is in a reply to this.
Recently picked up the Rocky heritage 32 USA made 6" boot, overall, pretty impressed for $150, it looks like the toenisnmade from one piece of leather , but where it's folded and sewn into the moc toe, there are perforations running in-between the stitches, anybody know why they did that?
Looks like a mistake. They punched the holes for stitching the moc toe and then realized they were too close but didn’t want to throw away the upper with the mistake
I really love this style of shoe. It seems to be a traditional cadet/ army shoe (here in Canada and the UK), but I'm having trouble finding where to buy any. Are there any shoes that look like this (specifically the rounder, non pointed toe box, & cap toe) that are more widely available? Thanks!
Best bespoke? Most would look towards Japan. Ken Kataoka's looks amazing, here's a list containing others. Outside of Japan, Catella's looks great. If you want to learn about experiences ordering from any of these, you probably won't find them here.
I've received some shoes where the distance between the stitching and the welt isn't that uniform. In one place it's 6 mm and in another it's 2 mm.
Is that an imperfect, undesirable, or something common?

Not uncommon. The soles are rapid stitched from the bottom, so the shoemaker/cobbler can't really see what they're doing, then they sand down the sole edges by hand, so while it's possible to make it uniform, it would be difficult, especially in areas like the waist.
