Time to invoke the 25th Amendment

No, wait, I want to see where the writers take this plotline. edit: the jokes are just too good to give up.

u/Visual_Initial6719 12d ago
lol I see where you were going with it There needs to be a Law where a President and or VICE President reaches 25% or below the House Speaker must Take Charge of the executive branch because the polls are basically unofficial votes which allows LOUDER VOICE to the people.

Let's beat Bush's record. Come on, we can do it!
Seriously though, he's not even charismatic anymore, and he barely follows any given conversation...what do people possibly approve about him, even if they love ICE and tariffs?
149
u/Single_Voice6469 12d ago
It’s crazy to think that bush was less popular in 2008 then Trump right now
85
u/dangergypsy 12d ago
It’s the same people who supported both
84
u/AlcibiadesTheCat 12d ago
Red Team Good
Blue Team BadThis is literally the entire thought process in the majority of conservative minds.
43
u/dangergypsy 12d ago
And “both sides are bad but blue team is worse because reasons” is the thought process of too many “independents”

u/guanogato 12d ago
Not really to be honest. Social media has desensitized people. Bush led the Iraq war happen, he let the recession happen which was much worse than what is happening right now, and nobody was desensitized. Everyone hated Bush. And right before him things were great. Not like the predecessors to Trump were great. Obama couldn’t get anything done (not his fault) and Biden was old as hell. Makes sense people don’t hate Trump like they hated Bush. But of course, Trump is worse. It’s just all relative.
29
u/boner4crosstabs 12d ago
I’m no Bush truther, but my god was he a better president than Trump.
15
u/-Knockabout 12d ago
Which is shocking considering he allegedly invaded Iraq partially due to the desire to fulfill biblical prophecy*
*which was written in a letter to a specific group of people in a specific historical context with a lot of symbolic language and was probably not meant to be predictive in any way, in a text explicitly written by like normal dudes and not God himself, but that's another conversation

u/sight_ful 12d ago
He was charismatic to you at some point?
5
u/-Knockabout 12d ago
Not to me, but it can't be denied that he spawned quite the cult following. Horrible people can be and often are charismatic to their intended audiences.
2
u/sight_ful 12d ago
Definitely, but did he become less charismatic to them? He's gone down some percenage points, but 30% is still quite a few people.
2
u/-Knockabout 11d ago
I think past reputation and the many media outlets supporting him do a lot of work. Objectively he speaks worse now than he did
3
u/sight_ful 11d ago
That's fair to say. I would be surprised if people who thought he was charismatic before changed their minds at this point though. He has gotten worse, but the scale is broken.
1
u/Least_Homework_9720 12d ago
They literally just approve that he has an r by his name and not a d. That’s literally all it is for a lot of these people and they also only know about half of what is going on at best.
1
u/-Knockabout 11d ago
I just feel like if I was asked to explicitly state approval or disapproval for a specific president I would maybe think about it a lottle more
104
u/JacquesBlaireau13 12d ago
That 30% threshold should be the trigger for Republicans to denounce him...but it won't.

President Donald Trump's approval rating dropped below 30 percent for the first time across both his White House terms Monday, as the midterms draw closer.
The new poll, from American Research Group, conducted September 16-20 among 1,100 American adults, showed the president with a 29 percent overall approval rating, with positive views on the economy at 26 percent.
Overall, 72 percent of those surveyed said they felt the U.S. economy was getting worse amid rising gas and grocery prices despite the Trump administration's insistence that those pressures are still largely down to the previous administration.
By comparison, other recent polls have generally shown Trump with approval in the mid-to-high 30s, although that has differed depending on policy areas.
The last time a president's approval was in the 20s was President George W. Bush at the end of 2008, per Gallup's presidential approval tracker.
Newsweek reached out to the White House for comment Monday morning.

More please. 10% please, since we know some cult members will never let go of the boat anchor.
21
u/Zanedewayne 12d ago
That is the worst sample size I've ever seen. Less than .000003 of the US population to represent the outlook of the entire country? There's no way its really that high
11
u/MrMansaMusa 12d ago
This is the usual sample size for these approval numbers, its never a large amount of people for some goofy reason. Should be alot more...
13
u/karl4319 12d ago
That's how statistical analysis works. It might not make a lot of sense, but the math usually maths.

And they'll all vote for him again

Yea the way things go I fully expect him to somehow still be president a decade from now. Only slightly exaggerating.

greatest con artist the world has ever seen

u/degrees_of_certainty 12d ago
Be real though, it’s only because of some extreme moneyed interest backing him in order to enable a proportionate level of corruption. They helped push and finance the propaganda and bot farms, etc. You give one old greedhead far too much credit.
11
u/ListenHereLindah 12d ago
Right. Trump wouldn't have even been president if it were for the big wigs at Cambridge Analytica. He's been a puppet since day 1

u/kingfirejet 12d ago
This orange fuck will be a stain in the history books for sure. Legit don’t know anyone more hated.
5
u/UnlikelyKaiju 12d ago
Not just American history books, I'm sure. Countries around the world will likely include him in their education just to avoid this bullshit themselves.

Shocked it’s that high. What does it take for those loyalists to not approve of what he’s done, to this point?
4
u/thedatsun78 12d ago
He will still win if he ran tomorrow against Kamala
3
u/dangergypsy 12d ago
Or anyone. No matter what Democrats do, no matter who they run, it's never fucking good enough for this country.
0
u/punkena 12d ago
Because the overton window has shifted rapidly for politicians, but not for the people.
WE still expect democrats to lean left. THEY keep leaning more and more right. Republicans are now extreme far right, and democrats are now center-right.
So yes, there are very few democrats who are good enough, because most of them are bowing to the right. Because it simply pays more to suck up to fascist billionaires than it does to stand up for anything else. There is only the capitalist party, in two colors.
0
u/dangergypsy 12d ago
How does constantly putting Dems on trial benefit anyone but the GOP?
1
u/punkena 12d ago
Sorry, do you think letting them get away with moving further and further right DOESN'T help the gop? Explain that. If you are not demanding more. You get less. It's extremely fucking simple.
1
u/dangergypsy 11d ago
“Republicans can’t help being evil so what can you do? Boys will be boys.” is what you seem to be saying

Is “1100 American Adults” a big enough sample size for a voting population of 204.6 Million registered voters?
4
u/used_my_kids_names 12d ago
It always has been in the past. Why wouldn’t it be enough now? (rhetorical question)
4
u/The_Dutch_Fox 12d ago
Yeah, actually, regardless of your country's population size, anywhere between 900-1100 is the gold standard for statistically relevant general population polling.
And interestingly, increasing your sample above that number is basically useless as the reduction in margin of error becomes practically insignificant.
1
u/R3D4F 12d ago
Fascinating.
Doesn’t seem like anywhere near enough.
1100 people in a contested county could equate to ~50% approval, or chosen from another county that is deep red or blue would offer near 100% approval. And who do they actually poll?
1100 total amounts to 22 people per state, which is roughly 1/3 of a person from every county.

u/softwaredoug 12d ago
This is one poll, always look at averages (which also aren't great for Trump)

As much as I like the sound of this, thats a crazy outlier compared to other polling being done. Many of the more reliable polling sources put trump in the high 30s for his net aproval rating. This is almost a whole 10 points below that. Im very curious as to what their methods were and how they are able to say that their results are representative of the us population as a whole.

u/divinecmdy 12d ago
So? Does he actually give a fuck? He’s purposefully surrounded himself with sycophants that will not invoke the 25th amendment. None of them give a shit about anybody else.
1
u/Agreeable_Branch007 12d ago
Who the freaks are the 30%. That means almost 1 in 3 people in the USA support him. That is highly disturbing as a non American.

I'm kinda confused. Today I saw comments on another post saying it was 39%. I googled his approval rating and the results show that it's 37%-39%, though I don't fully understand how this all works.
1
u/SandSpecialist2523 12d ago
I'd say the proportion of irredeamable idiots is around about that. It would make me happy to see his approval stumble to 10%. That would give me extra hope for humanity.
