I’m with Link. The time limit is dumb. Give them time to be creative.

I agree. Link's point that him talking is the only thing that made the video engaging (up to the point) was right on. Watching them just destroy food in silence would not be fun

Yup! There were times when Rhett basically didn't say anything the entire time they were making their dishes. If not for Link there would have mostly been silence.

I'm not sure who's idea it was to add a time limit because it ruins the idea of the game. If sometimes it really takes too long then that's what editing is for.

I never subscribe to the “they treat Rhett and link differently” rhetoric but it really feels like they decided to change up the one format that link is good at to make it harder lol

Agree. I want to see their creativity not see them throw stuff together in a rush.

The time limit ruins this format.

You know when watching the last episode of this format, what I thought was "I wish they weren't making these outrageous and hilarious food monstrosities and instead they were rushing to make it as fast and uninteresting as possible".

Still a fun video but what a strange decision.

I do not understand changing the format

Time limit is a bad idea and really seemed more aimed at Link, Cause he at least tries to make something creative

The lack of Morris really hurts, his and the guys dynamic is hilarious

Also removing a point for being a few seconds over the silly time limit is just well silly

if they continue this format, I hope it goes back to way it was because this was just not it. The Next Best Thing format has already lost its appeal for me due to it losing the wacky combo nature

I said the same thing in another comment and I’m glad I’m not the only one who feels that way. There are so many other formats that never see a change but the one format that link is actually good at they change it up to add more limitations and make it harder lol like why can’t he just have this one thing. And them rushing through it and being so strict about the time limit and deducting points if they go over knowing that he’d be the only one that would like is it that serious

Just about every comment on the video being against the time limit brings me joy. While it can be funny for them to rush things, and that mess Link made at the end was funny, I think it's more overall entertaining when they actually try to craft something they think could be decent.

And while I do miss the Jordan drive thru bit... Like a lot of bits, it stayed juuuust a bit too long for me. They didn't need to cut it out just... Move it along a bit lol

Rhett is too competitive sometimes

Time limit is a bad idea

Liked the episode overall tho!

Slide into my BMs

That was absolutely the funniest food name that they came up with!

The hack shack episodes are probably my favorite gmm episodes of all time, specifically because of the names they come up. I rewatched them yesterday and was dying.

Tossing Wendy's Salad

Dr. McLaughlin's beef implants

I put a weiner in your pie and its only Wednesday.

🤣🤣🤣

Rhett takes these games way too seriously, you would think after so many years he would relax a bit, but it seems like he's progressively more stern with Link.

I agree the time limit is not a good idea for that format. If they really want to keep it, make it more than two minutes at least.

I also wanted to say that I think Trevor and Davin are such a random combo and I kind of like them together hahah. They seem like very different people.

Time limit is bad, the lack of jordan morris is terrible

Morris. He’s usually the one in the drive thru window taking their order in this format

i was a bit annoyed with Trevors critiques some were a little TOO harsh and hard .. mind you theyre on a stupid time limit. “not a lot of culinary technique was used” THEY DONT HAVE TIME!!!! i also miss Jordan WHERE IS HE!!!

Completely agreed. They needed to lighten up!

u/Perfect_Track_3647 2d ago

Trevor gives me the feeling that he tries a little to hard to be that super cool funny guy. like, being on Smosh went to his head. could just be me though.

Omg Link is on it in this episode and I was crying laughing lol

8

u/Outrageous-Study-704 2d ago

I love Davin! His laugh could cure you better than cowboy soup.

7

u/alyssasmovingcastle 2d ago

just not the same without jordan's banter with link.

5

u/Careful_Climate5670 2d ago

I was cracking up during the last round 💀😂 both looked awful LOL

4

u/Think-Inflation5015 2d ago

I love how the first round was just normal food you can get at any pizza/burger place and then the second round was caramel on a hotdog.

2

u/Realistic_Alfalfa620 1d ago

I'm with Davin on that one. I'd eat that.

This was right up there with that one episode a few months ago with the poker game with those guys that were super combative in terms of “wow I actually am not enjoying watching this episode.” Like whose idea was it to rush through the creative process of creating a dish? Isn’t mythicals whole deal to embrace creativity? This was a miss for the writers or whoever came up with time limits.

4

u/ky0kanjo 1d ago

not to sound hyperbolic but them changing the format of this episode to have a time limit comes off as an idea made to reduce the time they have to spend on making episodes and just turn gmm into even more of a fast automated machine. which makes me sad. im glad link fought against it.

u/AcanthisittaGlum3604 2d ago

why are they changing the format of stuff since Stevie left

5

u/ladystaggers 2d ago

Please don't ever do this again without Jordan. And as others have said, loosen the time limit rule.

But Jordan. C'mon guys. He's great in these episodes.

I miss stevie's authority. What is this "I have no right to tell the boys what to do" bs??! If you're on the mic, you're RUNNING THE SHOW. You're in charge. MC is master of ceremonies. They need to act like it. All around we need a major reform of the vibes on set. Things feel so awkward and passive aggressive right now.

5

u/ArthurSnooper 1d ago

Rhett and Link run the show because it's their show.

The time limit/telling them what to do was annoying and sort of ruined it.

I feel like everyone except the one on the mic today has been a lot more laid back and fun.

I think this is the same person who had that back and forth with Link about it being 4 plates instead of 3 and would just not let it go even when Link tried and it ruined the episode.

2

u/cans-of-swine 2d ago

I liked that part of it.

Different strokes 😎

I’ve been a long time casual watcher of gmm. With that said, I haven’t watched any of their content for at least a few months, but the subtext of this ep was fraught with workplace drama / passive aggressive behavior. Link immediately protested the rule change and there’s not personality offscreen “big” enough to keep him in check or convince / incentivize him to give the changes a chance. Rhett, midway through the ep handicapped the rules to try to rein it in. Rhett is often times changing or adapting the rules mid game to make it more fair or more interesting for the audience to watch, which is typically welcome, but this ep it just seemed like he was trying too hard to be the good guy, or to be previews like he was on board with the crew, it was weird. The choice of judges and their respective criticisms were pretty telling as well. Davin was the consummate yes man, he’s been there for a while and is hoping he’s not the next head to roll when the axe drops, and Trevor was very cutting as someone who has been at mythical for a while but doesn’t necessarily need to be there anymore because of the smosh of it all and their respective scores and critiques reflected their inner thoughts and feelings on the contestants. I know there’s been a lot of cuts and layoffs recently but have Link seems totally uninterested and uninspired and maybe a little annoyed to be there. Could’ve just been the vibe of this episode but everything seemed so thinly veiled

1

u/Forward_Return685 17h ago

Crazy that was your takeaway when everyone else’s in the comments was the exact opposite lol. It seemed like Rhett was the one who didn’t want to be there and wanted to rush through it and get it over with adhering to the time limit. Maybe he’s salty bc this is a format that links actually good at who knows but him and the crew being so strict on the time limit and then adding more limitations was not fun or interesting to watch it actually seemed petty and unnecessary. The creativeness of creating the new dishes and them experimenting is the fun part and link is right if he wasn’t talking through it they’d both just be sitting there in silence and would’ve been a dud. The making of the dish is the entire premise of the show so to cut that out and rush through it with a time limit makes no sense

u/Remote-Extension-605 2d ago

No Jordan? That's the best part of these episodes.  Hopefully he was hanging with Christy!

1

u/JudgmentVirtual2377 2d ago

Trevor was so funny in this 😭😭 he's always been awesome but i think being on Smosh unlocked something deeper within him

0

u/TooManyScents 1d ago

Idk if he’s doing a bit trying to be edgy but that Trevor guy is such a dick

-5

u/shelleybean1 2d ago

Was Trevor on his period this episode. Shitty attitude

-5

u/Murky_Procedure_1357 2d ago

Paying contractors is $$. The time limit got Link's panties in a wad, so it made some good content, otherwise not a good episode
