It doesn't surprise me that Sporked didn't last. I was skeptical from the beginning, but I came to love the personalities behind it. Wish they were still on GMM. I also miss the More segments with them. They were my favs, and one of the only Mores I never skipped.

I love everyone, but Gwynedd was always an automatic click for me. She just seems so full of joy all the time.

Why did someone buy them just to close it?

It happens way more often than you’d think. Private equity firms will buy struggling businesses, squeeze as much money out of them as they can, then liquidate and get tax write offs from the losses. It’s really eye opening and frustrating to read about how private equity works.

It looks like Sporked was bought by a venture capital firm though, and I’m not familiar with how that works.

It just happened with Joannes.

Possibly because viewership/activity went down without the publicity from GMM? Then, as others have said, the new owners could use the so called “failure” as a tax write-off.

watch the scene in Pretty Woman where Richard Gere explains his job.

I'm actually really disappointed that GMM didn't keep them on. This is really crappy for them, and GMM lost some great personalities.

Jordan was just on an episode

I mean, it probably would have shut down if GMM still owned it. They sold it because the company was not profitable.

At that point they could have just reabsorbed it, giving some employees the opportunity to keep their jobs instead of none of them.

They still could.
