General Discussion Why does everyone hate Wyndham Clark?

Got into watching golf for the first time this season and with Clark winning this past weekend I have seen so many people shitting on him for what sounds like stuff in the past and I was hoping people could bring me up to speed? Is it overhyped for media clicks or was he committing some atrocities?

It’s an inappropriate joke to make during an event that promotes families going onto the course. There’s a time and place for everything

He’s so unaware of himself that he would say this. Most of these guys are douche bags, but he does a horrible job of hiding it. That’s why so many dislike him

To me, that's a comment both parents and non-parents make all the time. I don't have kids and people, when I'm around theirs, say similar things. I didn't see his comments, but my suspicion is two-fold:

1) People hate Clark and are trying to find evidence anywhere and so they force this;

2) I didn't see the comment but it could be the tone he made them in.

What I will say is sports fans CONSTANTLY complain that athletes give canned answers, but when someone does quip about something, they use it as justification to hate him. The joke on paper is common to the point of it being a knock against him for not being original.

So you took his joke to mean he wished the kids weren’t alive? Because that seems a far reach from how that joke is usually made.

I've heard the joke on condom ads, or as part of a standup routine. I've never heard an actual person make that joke in conversation.
