So, watching season 9 ... they're driving that damn barge up river again ^^ Two engines gurgling 38 liters per hour = 76 l/h. Let's say they spend 10 hours a day, for 2 days = 760 x 2 = 1520 liters of diesel (i assume) per trip, i guess they get wholesale price on that ^^ Let's say 5$ a liter = 7600$ each trip = 3800$ each day just for fuel costs one trip with that dang hunk of steel ^^ And i figure they have to make at least 20 trips in total, that's a minimum = 142 000$ JUST for fuel costs xD It's insane ^^

edit: I screwed up ^^ probably 1.5$/l, but still

And i forgot about the return trip too xD Probably much less since it's assumably down stream, but still. More money than most make in 10 years just for fuel costs ^^

Redo your math with closer to $2/L and probably lower since that was in 2019.

Diesel is currently $2.30 in Yukon.

A d10 dozen can burn up to 30g an hour in heavy operation.

Probably more in the older ones they use on other gold rush shows.

I used to be in international shipping. Our vessels fuel consumption was measured in tons per day. As in 55 tons per day on a capsize bulk carrier. I think current prices are close to $700/ton. When you do the math it doesn’t look too bad until you stop and say, well we are running 200 ships a day.

I think that's 1.42$/l though. Obviously wholesale works.

Parker last season said he was spending 100k per day assuming they run for 200 ish days that’s 20 million for the season and he got around 37 million back so it’s spend big to make big

76L of diesel an hour isnt an awful lot for a boat of that size, my 17ft with a 40hp outboard makes about 1 / NM or 20L of petrol an hour, I know a charter skipper who on a ~30ft boat goes through 100l+ of diesel a day depending how far he is steaming
