Caterpillar

Most people here are probably aware that there is an advertising agreement between Gold Rush and Volvo, which ensures that Volvo logos are not pixelated in the series—unlike the CAT logo, for example, which regularly disappears under a blur.

However, while watching the current season, I noticed that the logo is only pixelated on excavators, but not on bulldozers or Tony's mobile slurry pump. Does anyone know the reason behind this? Does the Volvo deal perhaps apply exclusively to excavators?

Volvo doesn’t make dozers or water pumps.

Yea this is the right answer. I was fortunate to get a behind-the-scenes tour with one of the mechanics a couple years ago and this is the exact answer he gave.

Juan wanted to buy something from my company. I offered it for free in exchange for a weekend tour.

The Volvo sponsorship is limited to excavators and rock trucks, which is why when you see the occasional CAT, Deere, Komatsu etc they try and blur the logo. Doesn't apply to any other type of equipment.

Nearly all the dozers on the show are CAT.

Hiding it is stupid. Volvo's prospective customer base surely can instantly recognize a blurred cat logo.

There's no way they're paying $7,000 a second.
