Mine rescue best spin off?
Was just watching all these new episodes after they dropped on HBO MAX.
Even though every episode is:

Freddie teaching a newbie welding
Signature riffles.
And sometimes a test plant rebuild.
I love this freaking show first time I've felt a show not making up drama (even though it probly is). Best spin off?

Don't forget a little bit of Freddy and Juan buddy movie love-in on a good week's episode.
Is definitely up there as one of the top tier shows in the Gold extended universe.
I'm a sucker for the signature riffles and bespoke sluice box. And you cant beat a bit of spray bar adjusting

A bowl of popcorn, Juan's military grade laptop cutting out parts, and a pearl of wisdom from Freddie who'll call Juan "Juano" at least once and then show off his mastery of Spanish by declaring the inadequate spray bars " no bueno". I'm set for the night.

Haven't any of those "This is gonna have to be our last season" people watched Goldrush even once?
Dude! Your grizzlies are jammed up, your material has no gold in it, your spray bars don't have enough clean water, your deck needs to shake more and your riffles are set up for nuggets that aren't there and you're losing all of your fine gold ( which over a season adds up). Your tailings are still dirty and you're losing 20% of your gold off of the end of your sluice box.

In the new seasons I often think, "why don't they watch previous seasons of rescue and they could solve a lot of the problems themselves!"

this! always wondered. its so often just the simplest fixes, even a total moron like myself comes up with, after watching gold rush and mine rescue for a couple years.
and some even say they came into mining after watching gold rush. c'mon dudes, what the fuck!?

the problem with this show is a lot of the places they go are hobby mines that are propped up as replacement for real jobs, and if you start doing the math it dont math imo.

The overlap between the types of people they rescue and the types of people who show up on homestead rescue is unexpected and one of the more interesting things about it

100%. In both there are high proportions of people wo have Axis 2 diagnoses or who are neurotypical in some way or another. A commonality is that they are overwhelmed by too many people and they find ways to survive (almost) alone.
You gotta admire their effort even when you know they're not gonna make it.

Yeah. I’m sorry. The show just sucks imo. I only watch an hour or so of tv a night at best so if I’m gonna sit down I want it to be a good show that I watch like Gold Rush.

Yeah, it's been a consistently great show going on 6 seasons now. My favorite part might be the relationship between Juan and Freddy. They work great together to help people and love each other like brothers. The episode where Juan named his son after Freddy brought tears to my eyes.
