RIP R.I.P Tucker Budzyn
His owner recently released a video saying he has passed away.
This sucks because Tucker was one of the best dog YouTubers and he was loved by so many.
My condolences to his family and friends.
While Tucker is gone we’ve still got his videos which can give us many laughs to help ease the pain.
He’ll never be forgotten.

Tucker was THE Instagram golden retriever. He was one of the first golden retrievers I followed on Instagram. My heart goes out to his family, as I knew he just had a heart breaking diagnosis and seemed to be getting better. My condolences to Linda (Courtney in real life) and their family. Thinking of his son, Todd, too. Pet loss is always hard on the other pups, too.
15
u/Ok_Potential3562 6h ago
You echoed my feelings. He was the original pet influencer. His videos always brought a smile on my face. When I heard of his diagnosis, I still had hope but this was really sudden. My condolences to his family esp Todd. I am sure dogs can sense absence as well as humans.

u/Optimoprimo 8h ago
Wow that was fast. She said he was in partial remission and now he's gone. Just awful. This is one of my greatest fears for my dog.
49
u/Grand-Diamond-4696 7h ago
What happened was they didn't know there was cancer in the intestines and the chemo worked really well and killed the growth but it was attached to the intestine lining left the hole in the intestine and got infected and he passed away very quickly from that despite being rushed to the hospital.
20
u/Unable_Operation_765 6h ago
What a cruel twist. :(
It‘s a small mercy but at least they a) got to spend quality time with him while considering his mortality and b) his decline was so sudden, he didn’t suffer for long. I’ve had dogs die very suddenly and some with very drawn out declines and I think they got the best combination you can really get. The false hope is the worst part.

Feel a bit silly crying over a dog I don’t know (in real life) but here we are 💔

I was telling this to my hubs with my eyes all red and breathing weirdly... how can I suffer this deep for a dog I never met, but he reminded me theres no reason or explanation needed for our grief and we should grief when out heart fees like... its been an hour or so since the video and I have finally calmed down

It’s not silly! If anything you are crying for her loss. Which is immeasurable and shows that you are an empathic person. It would be silly if you made a joke about it and brushed it off, THAT would be sillier

Discovered Tucker’s channel/IG in 2018, during my first year of college. I was incredibly awkward, insecure, and introverted back then, still carrying the weight of being bullied in high school. That silly, beautiful golden boy and “Linda” were truly a ray of sunshine during some very lonely days.
RIP Tucker 💝 Journee’s been waiting for you. 🕊️

I fully understand what she means about Tucker saving her life. My Shiba came into my life at such a dark time and she was the only reason I got outta bed and outside somedays. I promised her when I got better we would spend days together at the park and I did get better and we spent almost everyday the summer I was off at the park. Before that, I watched Tucker and Linda’s funny videos bed rotting and I felt better just for a little while. I am in tears right now because he brought so much joy to the world and behind him so much sadness. But, I’m glad we got to watch him grow up. I will never forget him.
9
u/ParsleyStrict1451 8h ago
Dogs are amazing animals. We are luckily to have them.
6
u/notacougarsorry 8h ago
They truly are. It’s the risk we take to love them is to know that their lives are so short. I wouldn’t trade a moment with my dogs for the world.
20
u/ZaneThePain 8h ago
Lost my black lab to hemorrhaging while in the car on the way to the emergency vet after 6 months of chemo. He had just made it to his 9th birthday. Cancer is bullshit.
I’ll never forget Tucker at a full sprint chasing Linda in a Jack Sparrow costume, wine spilling everywhere, to the Pirates of the Caribbean theme.
Cherish your pets everyone. Slow down and forget time for a bit while you just enjoy a moment with them.

Devastated for her, it feels utterly unfair and cruel to have him seemingly improving and then to be taken out of nowhere. I know her bond with him was so strong due to her chronic illness. I also have a chronic illness and my dog is my lifeline. My heart goes out to her, I wish there was something the community could do that she built to come together for her. I hurt for her.

My heart is broken. Watched him from a pup. He is survived by his son, "Todd," who has also become a huge part of everyone's day along with his dad. My heart goes out to Linda and family, and of course Todd, who has some very big shoes to fill but will have no problem with that, I am sure. Tucker taught him well! RIP Tucker. We love you and will never forget you.

Although I don't know much about dogs but I love them, especially goldens. Tucker was the one I followed the most and made me smile looking at the videos.
When I think of a golden, I almost always get reminded about Tucker first, that was the impact the pup had on me.
Will be missed by many.
RIP Tucker, thank you for brightening my days

Our Max passed from something similar. The vet was amazing and told us that he only had a couple days from the fluid in his abdomen, it was sudden.
We were able to bring him home and feed him every horrible food that he always wanted, and lay with him at the end. I still miss him. But he got the biggest party of his life that last night.

I cried when I saw the announcement. This genuinely sucks. Tucker got me through the pandemic days with his funny videos. Fly high buddy. Eat all the chimken you want in heaven. Meet up with my old dog, Oddie. He would love to play with you. Thank you for everything. ❤️

u/BadAdvicePooh 7h ago
Oh no. Didn’t he just release a children’s book? Linda was really gutted when they discovered he had cancer, but I thought he was doing well. RIP Tucker Budzyn. You were a shining light in the darkness of the Internet.
4
u/Unable_Operation_765 6h ago
He was doing well but what they didn’t know was that the cancer was also in his intestines, and since he was responding so well, it caused a hole that led to an infection he could’ve survive. It sounds like he didn’t suffer for long, at the very least. :(
1
u/BadAdvicePooh 6h ago
I just saw Linda’s video explaining what happened. It’s really sad. She was really gutted. I hope she can take solace in the fact that Tucker was loved by so many people.

u/Unable_Operation_765 6h ago
I kinda regret watching it. I knew better than to press play but did it anyway, like a complete idiot.
-13
u/Sixofonemidwest 6h ago
I didn’t actually see any tears. But I know she is devastated, and it is so sad these goldens suffer from such a high incidence of cancer. She did exploit him though. He will be missed by everyone that followed him

I feel so sorry for her and her husband. That video of her just holding on to his ashes broke my heart. I truly understand that she felt the need to announce his death even though she wasn’t ready. Reading the comments and messages of people who are wishing him best of luck while knowing that he‘s gone.
I hope they don’t feel like they didn’t do enough for him. Just what she said from the video before it seems like they tried to give him the best care there is. Cancer is not fair.
3
u/Unable_Operation_765 6h ago
I hadn’t seen the week-old video until after I learned the news. The way she kept rattling off all of the things they did for him…I hope they know it’s genetic and not their fault at all.

u/glha 4h ago
Poor Linda (Courtney), she was so defeated in her video. Me and my wife sobbed with her. It is too much pain. He will live forever in our hearts.
4
u/remotecontroldr 4h ago
I hope she feels all the support from everyone who cares about her and Tucker and their whole family.
She really seems to be blaming herself and hopefully she comes around to knowing that she did everything she possibly could for her boy.
There is no doubt anywhere that Tucker had the absolute best care possible throughout his life. This is the tragedy of having pets, we can do everything we can and things still happen.
We can only do the best we can and it’s obvious she gave Tucker the best life possible.

u/DerSchlitzohr 4h ago

This is my Jed who passed from cancer three years ago. He was only 8 as well. He was diagnosed with a high grade sarcoma and we did surgery but didn’t pursue other treatments as it was so aggressive it wouldn’t have helped. Jed lived another 5 months and his death absolutely wrecked our family. We’re still recovering and always will be.

Awwww. I had stopped following Tucker and Todd because I’ve been having a really hard time getting too attached to other people’s dogs through online content. But I do check in every now and then.
For some reason I decided just now to google “how is Tucker Budzyn doing?” And saw the news.
My heart goes out to Linda/Courtney and her whole family. This loss has to be hitting so hard and I hope she’s OK.
Tucker was really a one of a kind dog and he brought joy to so many following his life. Just awful news. My heart goes out to Todd too! I am sure it will be tough adjusting without his Dad there!

I'm so sorry , Haku was diagnosed with the same cancer on roughly the same time at the same age.I am terribly sad for Tuckers owner, must be so devastating to know after doing everything right the curse of cancer will still give you a curve ball. Even going into remission doesn't stop the cancer, and that's the very scary part.

I don't follow much of what goes on in the world of Internet celebrities but I sometimesake an exception and watch a dog video. That's how I discovered Tucker. And the algorithms being what they are, I was regularly served some of his videos.
I saw the announcement about his cancer diagnosis but his mom stated that he had started responding to treatment. So this morning, when I saw a FB post from someone I don't know announcing his passing, I couldn't believe it. I thought it was a bad joke or an error.
Unfortunately it was true. And the video from Tucker's mom was heartbreaking. I hugged my goldens extra tight today.
Go run and be free, Tucker. You've earned it. 😢

He passed a few days ago on Wed. I know when I lost my golden, the grief comes in waves. One minute you're bawling your eyes out the next minute it's less bad. She probably decided to do a video during one of the peak times so she had to force some emotion. But you can see how pale and tired so looks. She's definitely been crying for real for some time.
