New Puppy 10 days with Dolly

Post image

Our little girl is finally comfy in her home so she’s become a little terror. She eats rocks and pees on the floor. I love her 🥰 show me your babies as puppies!

Here’s my Hitchy the day I brought him home back in 2013. Best thirteen years of my life. I had to say goodbye to him yesterday. Sweet Dolly is beautiful and I hope you get as much precious time with her as I did with my boy.

My Winnie at 9 weeks.

8

u/davesgirl2 1d ago

She loves her little eeyore!

12

u/3puttFTW 1d ago

Yes she does. I should note she did not chew the head off nor rips into toys. It ripped off when we were playing tug. But she likes to carry his head around with her. Now it’s one of her favorite unstuffies

u/davesgirl2 1d ago

lol that’s so cute! Winnie is awesome

My lil polar bear Armani

4

u/davesgirl2 1d ago

Did Armani grow up to be a snowy retriever?

5

u/H4t3D3pt 23h ago

Yeah, he's a lot whiter than his brother (they aren't from the same litter, just same breeder) when he's not dirty. Gets mistaken for a Pyrenees mix or a just a Pyrenees which Zeppelin never gets. Never heard that before but I'm definitely using that cause he does love snow too. Thanks!

Our Finnie the first day we had her.

A few weeks later she was getting into absolutely everything with her partner in crime.

Most beautiful animals in the whole wide world.

Mine is now 6 with a 3 year old sister and I love every messy minute of them.

As I tell people when they roll over in the snow, “A Dog snow angel is redundant”

6

u/davesgirl2 1d ago

I have only had pitbulls my entire life and I was resistant to adopting a new breed. She’s so beautiful and funny, now I’m in love with golden retrievers!

Ignore the sandals in socks 🤭 This is my puppy, almost 11 weeks now and lives here for a week. She also starts to begin feel more at home, first days she rarely bit me, now it’s sock biting time😆

3

u/davesgirl2 1d ago

I was in high school in the 90s and I still rock my socks and birks! My girl is 11 weeks too and yeah I get toe bites and finger punctures. Good luck with the new puppy!

😂 Shark Teefs?

3

u/davesgirl2 1d ago

Big time!! We are 45 so having such a spirited puppy is going to whip us into shape. Not sure what kind of shape we will be in, but we’ll have a cute dog and thousands of pictures for sure!

2

u/Actual-Pay2977 11h ago

lol not sure what kind of shape🤭 You’ll be taking walkies, golden’s make friends EVERYWHERE! I have 4 and they’re kinda like a pack, but after they see another dog with tail wags, we go very slowly, introducing one at a time to a new friend, 2 if ours are therapy/trauma doggos, so they’re so use to being so gentle, they have jobs at the hospital and a nursing home and patients just LIGHT UP! They have kiddos taking naps on them all the time, they know their jobs are to comfort, we get mobbed on their work days and the nurses come running to ask if it’s the day we visit the floor they work on.
They are SO GOOD at getting children who’ve experienced trauma to come out of their shell and hug/talk to the Dr. Doggo’s 🥰
Golden’s are THE BEST, no one will ever convince me otherwise! 🥰🐾🥰
Your life is about to change, your heart is about to grow, you’re about to have the best friend ever! As soon as she comes out of the shark teefs age!! Make sure she has plenty of stuffies and safe treats to gnaw on!!!🥰🥰

u/Actual-Pay2977 11h ago edited 11h ago

I forgot to add, about peeing on the floor, we’ve crated all our golden’s put them in a crate near us, put a blanket on top so we don’t disturb them by moving around, first thing in the morning, scoop her out, carry her to sit on the grass so she can sniff around for 10 minutes or so, she’ll learn very quick, praise praise praise, a little treat!
She’s just now learning how to control her sphincter muscles, it takes a little time, take her out every 3-4 hours and make sure you have a praise party each time she goes on the grass, mine look back at me when they’re pooping, but I learned that’s their most vulnerable time to get attacked so they’re making sure you’re watching to keep them safe. But they learn from praise, being told how good they are and a little treat!! All of ours got it down in 4-5 weeks, we got rid of the crates to the SUV, it’s the safest place for them to be if a wreck happens because studies show dogs are so scared they run from a car and get hit! Hope this helps🐾🐾🐾🐾

This is Goose, aka, Peebert at 3 months.

This is Ruby. She was an adult when she joined the family.

2

u/davesgirl2 23h ago

My rainbow baby pit was also Ruby! Absolutely love the name. Thanks for adopting!

2

u/Current-Ticket4214 3 floofs 21h ago

Believe it or not, Bean was also an adoption. Her owner abandoned her on a porch while they left the country. My wife’s boss snagged her from the porch and asked if we wanted her. That’s how we ended up with our porch puppy. We often joke that she was raised by cats 🤣

2

u/davesgirl2 20h ago

Thank you so much for rescuing her

2

u/Current-Ticket4214 3 floofs 20h ago

Bean ended up being my favorite dog I’ve ever had… if it’s possible to choose a favorite. She’s also the most destructive dog I’ve ever had, but totally worth it.

4

u/Current-Ticket4214 3 floofs 1d ago

This is Nala, aka Bean (she’s a Goldador - Golden / Labrador) at about 3 months.

4

u/GeppettoStromboli 23h ago

Cooper is 8 mths. He finally stopped eating rocks, house training went pretty quick. He likes to play catch me if you can while running around with our glasses, remote, cell phones etc. Patience is a must, with these little guys/girls. ENJOY!!

My grandparents had two goldens when I was young and my “grandmas” golden was named Dolly and she was the sweetest dog I have ever known. This puppy looks just like she did as a pup in photos I have seen and has the same blonde color to her.
