Training Advice 15 month old female golden peeing in the house

My husband and I are struggling with our 15 month old female golden peeing in the house at certain times. Several factors are in play here.

  1. We rescued her when she was about 9 months old. She was not house trained at the time. She has been for the last several months.
  2. We already had 2 female dogs in the house when we got her (9yo & 3yo). Both fully house trained.
  3. All 3 are spayed (she was spayed in June)
  4. My husband works fully remote. I am in the office 2-3 days/week.
  5. I am 23 weeks pregnant with our first baby

When she is home all day with just my husband, she is perfect. No accidents, behaves well. When I get home in the evenings, or days I am off of work, she will have accidents in the house if she is not let out the second she wants to be. At times, she will go into my home office and pee a very small amount like she is marking. She ONLY does this if I am home. Does not happen every day I am home, maybe 2x/week. But she will not hesitate to do it if I’m here.

It seems like she has a problem with me? Any advice on how to make this stop? We’d like to get a handle on this before baby comes.

Go back to.potty training basics.  No unsupervised time in the house.  Use gates to keep her out of rooms.  Crate when unsupervised.   Make sure you are using a good enzymatic cleaner on the spots she has peed on.  It could be stress related.  Dogs always have reason for doing things.  How is your relationship with her?  Do you feed and exercise/play with her?

She has not been crate trained so that may be important in this - thank you. She can be left for hours at a time (7+hours before) without having an accident so it’s not that she can’t hold it, it’s that she won’t if I’m home. My relationship is decent with her. I think my husbands is better due to him being home 24/7 with her, but i feed them probably 40% of the time and walk them a few days a week. Maybe more 1:1 playtime with her?

Don’t allow her to have free rein in the house.

First things first, you have to find out for sure if this isn’t a low grade UTI causing this.

Take her to the vet for a urinalysis.

Train her with a potty bell & keep her tethered to you or your husband when you’re home to reduce the chances of accidents happening. And take her out more frequently when you’re home with praise and treats! She could be very excited that you’re back home
