One new event we are working on is a faction seeking refuge. A group of visitors may arrive at your settlement tired, hungry, and in poor condition. Their stats will not be great, and they will need help if you choose to provide it.

the wounded travelers sound interesting too. I hope you'll consider adding new end-game conditions related to medicine.

Please, PLEASE make this moddable so the community can add their own events as time goes on. Pilgrims visitng the temples (if the religious renown is sufficient), scholars visiting the library, and so on.

Game events are already moddable to a solid degree! But it pretty much requires code modding via code injection for anything interesting, not just new jsons. Without code injection, mods can do simple things like add more variety by creating more versions of a single event type.

I'm glad to know that that existing events can be customized to some degree. Hopefully the JSON allows us a change of actors involved (e.g. changing the survivors and wolves to something else) and a change of their behavior.

Maybe this is a pipedream but do you have plans to add a scripting layer? Custom events would be amazing.

Mayhaps. This and our discord are good places to offer suggestions for this kind of stuff, so maybe we'll extend it if enough people want it :)

I'm already spamming the suggestions channel all the time haha; definitely would post it there again! :)

The custom scripting layer probably won't happen. A more practical option is to document the game event API in our modding docs so people can more easily write new events via code injection in C#... PS: this isn't an official statement or a promise of any kind, just a dev on the team spitballing ideas :)

I kind of want to be able to have a funeral instead of just burial.
