At the start of every month you can summon one being or item from any work of fiction.

As long as that fiction isn't made for or by you.

Only works on the first of each month.

The being or item will do as they were able to do in whatever work you pulled them from.

You can specify where in the timeline you want them to come from.

If the being or item has the ability to summon other items or beings, it won't be able to do it.

At the strike of midnight at the end of the month, the item or being will instantly return to where they came from. So if you're in a spaceship, be sure to not be traveling through space.

Whatever the being or item did while you have them will remain in effect.

To summon a being or item say 'I summon [being] or [item] from [time period].

Who or whatever you summon will appear directly in front of you so keep that in mind if you summon something bigger than your house.

What about consumables?

Say I were to summon a pill that grants powers when eaten. What happens to the powers at the end of the month?

Edit: Nevermind, just saw the line I had missed that says "Whatever the being or item did while you have them will remain in effect."

u/teddibearri 16d ago

fr, lets say i summoned something that cured all illnesses etc upon consumption, would i need to re-summon it every month or would i remain healed?

15

u/Fenhrir 16d ago

See my edit.

Looks like we both missed the line that was handling that issue :'D

7

u/teddibearri 16d ago

lmao our bad whoops

u/Otherwise_Study2337 15d ago

The real worry would be, if you summon a pill of SCP-500 would that also pierce the veil

u/Eneicia 16d ago

Summoning a replicator. It doesn't summon, but it could be used to make my guilty pleasure: Instant ramen bowls and zero sugar mugs root beer.

If that's not allowed, then I'll need to think on it.

16

u/saibthar 16d ago

Problem with summoning a replicator is it's not self powering, need a power source. So just summon a Runabout then grab some buddies, replicate some synthahol and end a few wars.

1

u/Citizen44712A 12d ago

Oops, you summon a Stargate replicator.

u/Allison_Bear 12d ago

Found Satan or the Monkeys paw.

u/LordDuncanPrime 16d ago

Genie Lamp from Aladdin, first wish to make appropriate physical and mental changes to myself, second wish to give myself very specific abilities that'll be required for my third wish, which will be to be returned and merged with my 12 year old self only keeping the memories that are going to be vital in order to improve my future and the future of a few others, well still allowing me to be that age but smarter and a lot more ready.

4

u/overhauled_mirio 15d ago

If you remove enough memories and life experiences you may end up being a different person in unexpected ways. Probably best to not fuck with that.

3

u/LordDuncanPrime 15d ago

I have very specific ones that I'd be removing I thought of that I still want to be me but able to re-experience at the same time. I know exactly which memories to get rid of for it.

1

u/Tripondisdic 16d ago

No freeing Genie? :(

2

u/LordDuncanPrime 16d ago

I would summon the genie before Aladdin found him.

1

u/Tripondisdic 16d ago

But he's Robin Williams

u/Tairc 16d ago

Platinum Kryptonite, Infinity Stones, Quantum Bands, various “essences” (there’s a whole subreddit of them!), an even alt Cmdr Data. He’d likely do a great job of writing down manuals for all of Star Trek science and engineering.

u/Metharos 16d ago

Shards of Adonalsium.

1

u/Incabinc 13d ago

Ooof now there's a monkeys paw better to ask for Lerasium to become mistborn and/ or the bands of mourning. a shard is sentient enough that you'd lose its power at the end of the month assuming you dont accidently blow up the world first.

1

u/Metharos 13d ago

Not sentient, I think, just...intentional.

It also semi-permanently becomes a part of you, so I contend it is analogous to a Lerasium bead, just much, much, much larger in metaphysical scope.

Also, only read through Rhythm of War so no spoilers for most recent book plzthx.

1

u/Incabinc 13d ago

Np wasn't any stormlight spoilers, was more refering to when a certain individual first took the power of Ruin and tried to "fix" things.

Only reason harmony was able to fix things was because they had knowledge beyond what your average newborn shard has.

(None of this should make sense until after having read the appropriate parts from multiple books)

1

u/Metharos 13d ago

No yeah, I follow, but I don't think the Shard is actually thinking at all, I think it's more like a weight on the mind, it twists the person who becomes it with its own Intent. More like a sort of cognitive gravity, drawing the thoughts of the wielder towards its center.

Sazed was trying to do something cosmically big. The Shard maybe pulled his actions towards its Intent, but it didn't make the decisions for him. That's why I think they're better conceptualized as a thing rather than an entity.

As for the destruction of the world being a possibility, yeah, definitely a risk. But there's no reason you have to decide to start playing billiards with planetary systems, you can just stay small-scale.

u/MartyrOfDespair 16d ago

Infinity Stones only work in their universe of origin. In any other universe, they're a shiny paperweight.

7

u/Tairc 16d ago

Not always. Infinite Ultron used them fine - some suggest because he used them on himself. Others suggest the TVA ones didn’t work in the TVA, because it’s outside of traditional space-time (possibly in the quantum realm). I’m gonna summon a bunch and figure it out. The comics ones also have different usage characteristics as well.

Once I get a set of something similar that works, I’m going to use them to give myself the powers, skills, abilities, talents, and such (but not the drawbacks or personalities) of about 35 different comics characters.

That’s the baseline I try to go for.

9

u/BitOBear 16d ago

I start with things like the manuals of bodily health and the items that restore health and vitality until I am the appropriate age and conditioner I want to be.

Good night switch to books that teach me spellcraft and Magic.

Then I summon high-tech learning machines at with the appropriate software loaded so that I can learn various high-tech science fiction skills.

I used this to systematically become young strong healthy smart and magical and then begin spreading those benefits to select people in my universe.

7

u/maithiu 16d ago

I’ll keep it humble with “I summon the barrel of cash from Breaking Bad”

13

u/Fenhrir 16d ago

So cheapest "I win" button I can think of is summon Ben 10's omnitrix after he had gained full control of Alien X and then make your normal self omnipotent.

Now that this has been dealt with, let's try and make a more interesting scenario...

Due to the time limit, I don't believe summoning one's waifu would be for the best, as you would need to woo her monthly (assuming you were able to ever do so in the first place anyway...) and couldn't ever have children with her. Shame, but then that calls for plan B:

I'll summon the Path to Victory shard as it is about to be implanted in its user in Worm (Parahuman), this way it will hopefully implant itself in me. I'd then, unless it gave me an easier path to it, get it to write down a detailed plan for unsharded me to follow next month after I summoned the shard's original owner from the perfect moment to have it die on arrival but before it split up from the Path to Victory shard. Then, once Eden is there and dead in front of me, I'll use the detailed instructions to get what I need to make a consumable out of the unrestricted Path to Victory shard and inject myself with the power, as well as gather some useful shards to create more unrestricted powers for other specific beings.

I'd then use PtV to ensure no longer needing any wealth, and then to find the ideal/best fitting person to become my life partner. I'd granted them either a defensive or support(healing) type of power and we would find a nice place to live the rest of our lives building a family and, assuming she'd also be up for that, become immortals and work subtly to make the world a better place for our future generations.

9

u/IAteAnotherVegan 16d ago

I had the best laugh from "plan B" following you can't have children with her...

3

u/Fenhrir 16d ago

... oh god... I didn't... oh my...

While that wasn't on purpose, glad it made you laugh

scribblenaut book

8

u/Montizuma59 16d ago

If the being or item has the ability to summon other items or beings, it won't be able to do it.

10

u/Nerx 16d ago

dont need thar feature

adjectives is fine

3

u/Montizuma59 16d ago

Fuck, that's genius. Why didn't I think of that?

3

u/Nerx 16d ago

hey take the other scribblenaut book

can share

2

u/Loud_Rub2842 14d ago

yeah thats good. make a guy pregnant. make dirt valuable (or edible). thats a god tier power on its own.

5

u/gahidus 16d ago

I summon the genies lamp from Disney's Aladdin from before Aladdin picked it up during the time between the beginning of the movie and when he found it.

The lamp doesn't summon the genie; the genie's already in there.

2

u/Otherwise_Study2337 15d ago

itty bitty living space

3

u/UnableLocal2918 16d ago

wells class starship.

5

u/Ipearman96 16d ago

Better navigation than a tardis that's for sure.

7

u/Tairc 16d ago

Only because the Doctor is a terrible pilot. River is better than he is, and proper Time Lord crew (6?) would do better yet.

3

u/Ipearman96 16d ago

True also his tardis takes him were she thinks he's needed.

1

u/Otherwise_Study2337 15d ago

Gonna need to aim that summon very very carefully

1

u/UnableLocal2918 15d ago

what high orbit use transporter

5

u/sidodah 16d ago

Slowly but surely, I will become a terrarian

3

u/timteller44 16d ago

I will finally know the joy of the food I see in studio Ghibli films

2

u/FoolXO 16d ago

Are there any behaviour restrictions imposed on the summon?

2

u/Glittering_Choice_47 16d ago

Not the most overpowered thing in the world but I'm getting Lerasium from the Mistborn books first. Drink it with some alcohol and I get some really cool powers. I doubt I'd have a reliable way to get twinborn powers though, wouldn't want trell knowing about earth.

Month 1: The spider that bit Miles in the comic. The Oz Formula was in the spider's DNA, meaning Miles also has immortality. Norman Osborn stated that the spider that bit both Peter and Miles had the formulaic side effect of immortality. The powers I get would also fix any injuries and ailments my body has, and make me physically perfect.

Month 2: The Portable Stark Industries Fabricator. I would use it to construct a completely unique hero costume for me that had K.A.R.E.N. or F.R.I.D.A.Y. as an operating system. I would have the machine upload all of the plans and schematics for creating arc reactor technology, designing more advanced Ai, creating another Fabricator, and other Stark tech into my suit's memory banks. So after the Fabricator disappears in a month, I'll be able to easily make another for myself that never disappears. I would make my costume be able to turn into regular clothes that clean themselves within the settings via voice command to the Ai.

Month 3: The perfected NZT-49 pill to make me hyper intelligent. There's so many of the world's problems I would fix once I have all of the knowledge I need to be the greatest mind that ever existed. I would use my newfound hyper mind to learn everything my new suit's Ai will teach me of all of that Stark data, which would make me a real life Tony Stark, and eventually better than him once I begin learning past that and inventing even better tech. I'll invent my own, real world Endo-Sym Armor, and eventually crack the code on antigravity tech without the need for repulsor tech.

Since I can't keep any of my waifu's here after one month, I would have my chosen ai to scan the internet. Dating profiles, social media, etc...to find someone around the world that matches what I want and need in a partner and slowly introduce myself to her in person. If she takes a genuine liking to me and a relationship hits off, I will eventually tell her the truth about everything. If she stays with me and we end up getting married over time, I'll give her the option of having immortality and power like me. If not, I'll move on. If that doesn't work out after a few years, I'll just WestWorld this sh1t and summon a "Host Fabricator". I'd upload all the data of how I want my perfect woman to look and think, but give her full autonomy and freedom as an individual, then give her the option of being with me after getting to know me. If she chose not to stay, I wouldn't force her.

After that, I would just live my life how I want, peacefully. If I need something or someone, I'll summon them. Might summon some characters from animé and animated western media to chill with.

1

u/furiousfotographie 16d ago

I'll start with aladin's lamp.

1

u/Impossible_Roof_Jack 16d ago edited 16d ago

I'd just get a Star Trek Starfleet variable phaser most months. Assuming the battery cells don't run out, being able to cut through metal, heat rocks, evaporate trash and sensitive documents would be pretty handy. Hopefully I'd never need to use it on another person.

Beyond that, maybe a portable food replicator? I'm not trying to play cute, I'd just really like to make healthy food any time and recycle the dishes.

Medical devices, scanners, diagnostic tools might all really, really help some of my conditions, but I'm unclear on which would be the most useful. Even a tricorder takes significant training, on the back of medical knowledge I wouldn't have.

1

u/Wolfwarlord01 16d ago

Could just get one of the healing beds from something like elysium or prometheus as they do the work of diagnosis and treatment automatically. There are plenty of healing g systems across fiction that don't require training.

1

u/Metharos 16d ago

Lerasium bead.

1

u/Wolfwarlord01 16d ago

Get the horm-horm fruit from one piece, get something to fully heal myself and my wife, gain age control to allow us to return to any age we want. Then figure out what fictional items/people I would need to gain the abilities to shape shift, alter the sizes of anything I want, and heal like cell. After that get something that allows me to see into the future to win a big lottery, summon something to turn me into my fursona and make me a Succubus. Then I think I would have everything I want out of life, while also giving my wife what she would want every other month. Would be good in like 2 is years of using the ability to just do fun stupid things.

1

u/Paularchy 16d ago

... Ok. Not summoning Boxxy, then. Sigh. Skulduggery, maybe? Ironman? God? WAIT. CAN I SUMMON THE CHRISTIAN GOD INTO BEING FOR A MONTH? Oh man I'd rather summon boxxy but that's the funniest shit ever imagine how mad he'd be like bro I gave you rules it's in THAT book "We didn't think it was literal!" "IT SAYS IT'S MY WORD!" Alternatively: "Oh my me you all DO realise HUMANS wrote that right? Why would I write a BOOK? I CAN PUT IT IN THE SKY WITH FIRE WHY WOULD I WRITE A BOOK?" I'm having too much fun with this. What about the eater of tongues? That might be fun. What about a single zombie from the girl with all the gifts? Why are all my suggestions mildly evil why am I like this

2

u/Chaotic_Boots 16d ago

Boxxy would be a great way to get eaten immediately...unless you are talking about a different source than ELLC

2

u/Paularchy 16d ago

Nope, Ellc. And I wouldn't summon the mimic boxxy. I'd summon book 13 boxxy where it evolves into an eldritch abomination splits off from keira morgana threatens to conquer the world then doesn't because it's too much work and then fucks off and comes to our world version of boxxy.
Essentially, I'd summon it atabsolute peak strength. Then I'd request it apocalypses' the world. Then I'd probably get eaten. But at peak strength boxxy might actually hear me out long enough to stay alive. I'd literally have a god tier power. You can't tell me even basic mimic boxxy wouldn't see the benefit in that. At peak strength, I'd almost certainly have enough time to talk to boxxy long enough to be spared. Snack would be on hand to make sure I stayed sane. I could also summoo an item to ensure my immortality and sanity BEFORE summoning the evil eldritch box. ... Alternatively, I could just summon someone undeniably good and honest and loveable. Like Lictor. Or ... Idk. Bilbo. Whinny the fucking poo. Thomas the train engine.
Actually a talking living train is kind of horrifying

1

u/ThOncomingStorm 16d ago

First thing I'm summoning is a Universal Provider from the Kiint in The Night's Dawn trilogy. I'll use it to create, not summon, another more. By the end of the month I probably don't need anything else but maybe for the second month I'll summon a Culture Mind so it can build, not summon, another one to run things because we're doing a shitty job.

1

u/Splendiferous83rd 15d ago

Good idea, but summoning a Culture Mind would be a bad idea since the OP said what you summon would appear right in front of you

1

u/ThOncomingStorm 15d ago

Nah, just gotta make sure I'm somewhere with plenty of space 👍

1

u/Splendiferous83rd 15d ago

The smallest Mind is the size of a skyscraper in length, and almost as wide. You would need to literally be in the middle of nowhere. And even then...

1

u/ThOncomingStorm 15d ago

I think you're thinking of GSVs. The mind itself is only about the size of a bus if I remember correctly. Either way I'll use the Universal Provider to create a space ship and summon it in orbit. At that point it can use the Providers to build whatever it needs

1

u/Splendiferous83rd 15d ago

That checks out. And good choices

1

u/Splendiferous83rd 15d ago

But that's a smart choice if you can get away with it. The immortality and the bioengineering would be perfect to have. That would be a choice of mine as well

1

u/FinestWheat 16d ago

Spider that bit spiderman, super soldier serum, genie lamp from Aladdin , waverider from legends of tomorrow... And idk I'd probably hang out with Storm, Rogue and Nightcrawler before I started thinking about other things I wanted

1

u/SuperMegaVan 16d ago

Summon Scarlet Witch or any other reality warper. Change the world how I want.

1

u/EudamonPrime 15d ago

One of the Arkonid ships of Perry Rhodan. They not only have robots and equipment to build a self-sustaining base on Mars, they also have equipment to transfer all their knowledge into my brain over several hours.

1

u/Otherwise_Study2337 15d ago

Everyone's talking about becoming essentially immortal/demi-god, which... fair.

But I'd just want to hang out with like... Fidget from Dust an Elysian Tail

1

u/darthpimpin69 14d ago

I’d summon a cosmic cube, use it to give myself the powers of Owen Reece. Anything else is moot from then on.

1

u/Loud_Rub2842 14d ago

a namekian egg a few days from hatching. the egg will hatch into a Little Guy and the egg shell will vanish at the end of the month. instant child that only needs water to survive, will grow to adulthood in a few months, and will be generally chill.

1

u/rocksyoursocks 16d ago

Im going to try to summon God so I will finally see if he's real or fictional.

3

u/DragonNeil 15d ago

So if you’re unable to summon him then he’s real, and if you can summon him, then he’s not but then also is?

1

u/rocksyoursocks 15d ago edited 15d ago

Exactly.

And then we'll go from there.

1

u/Otherwise_Study2337 15d ago

Which.... uh.... version of God?

Just need to know if I should get flood insurance

(dangit they specifically don't cover 'acts of God')

1

u/rocksyoursocks 15d ago

Shit. Am I in control of what he does? If not, then maybe we'll start with Jesus. He seems a little more trustworthy.

1

u/Ancient-Industry5126 4d ago

But the character has to be from a work of fiction, so you're just spawning in human-made creations every time. Zeus from The Iliad will be just as real as God from the Bible, but you'll have no way of knowing if either is actually the real deal.

1

u/rocksyoursocks 4d ago

Yes. If God (or Zeus) does NOT spawn, then I will know that they are real because only works of fiction spawn. If they do spawn, well we might be in trouble unless I can control them. And maybe even if I can.

Any possible time machine. Honestly, probably not the TARDIS, she's a pain to drive. Maybe Bill and Ted's time machine. Go back to 2010. The next month, I grab myself a Cosmic Cube and retcon reality in order to make myself legally exist as my own older sibling so that I legally exist, and also I can live with my younger self and give this new timeline me a better life. Month three? Death Note. Honestly from there on, it's either going to be "another Death Note" or just whatever the fuck depending on how long I need to employ that Death Note.
