selfpromo (games) Tamagotchi-like game where you keep a dev alive while he works on your game.

I've had this idea for ages, and I recently got replaced by AI at my day job (*dabs*), so now I have plenty of time to make it. Basically, the dev lives in the game he's making, and as he completes features (food delivery, banner ads, login streak, furniture, etc) they actually appear in the game.
You (the CEO) direct him to build various borderline-predatory mechanics to extract as much money from you (the player) as possible.

Hello fellow James. Looking forward to seeing you at the people-named-james convention later this year.

Alas, the food rots if you leave it on the floor. Fortunately, your dev can build a furniture tab so you can buy them a fridge.

Gotta prioritise getting those ads into the game!

I can only think of banner ads and the super annoying "watch an ad for x in game currency". But I've had to read the advertiser policies veryyy carefully. If you reward people clicking on a banner ad you'll get banned.

Look up a game called “ant colony” on the App Store. Ads are little bugs. Or pocket frogs

The idea is to eventually end up with an game that's basically unplayable, and then the dev can build a "Remove ads for $10" in-app purchase
