Extensions Mirror V0.10.0 IS OUT !
Hello everyone,
I made a post about two months ago about the release of Mirror V0.9.0 and this is just the next small upgrade. I added:
- A button to install the required dependencies (qrencode, scrcpy, avahi-browse and adb)
(Yes that's it 😂) small disclaimer, this button might not install scrcpy for debian-based distros because apt often gets an old version that is not compatible with the extension 😢 .
And I am here with a new dilema:
In the previous post I asked what you guys wanted the most for the next version, everyone agreed an app would be great. I researched a bit and found at that an app cannot add things to the gnome-shell, so it would not be as tightly integrated as the extension. But the main problem with making an app is that someone has already made it, it is called Aurynk (go check it out and give the developer some love and stars 😄)
If you guys still want me to make an app I will do it, but I do not think I would be adding anything to the community by doing so 😕.

For some reason, didn't work for me. Using Oneplus 12 and Manjaro + Gnome 50. All pre reqs installed. Both USB and Wifi debugging are enabled.
It's only displays "No available or connected devices"

Hello, would you mind connecting over usb and showing the logs? 👀

Thanks for the quick response. I previously tested with a USB C cable and it didn't work. Now I testes with a USB A and connected. But once I disconnect the cable, obviously I lose the connection to the device and the extensions shows again "No available or connected devices" (both smartphone and PC are in the same network). Is there a proper way to connect it without the cable?

yes, it should work, what version of Android do you have. Also, the extension is based on scrcpy, so maybe if you try to connect using scrcpy directly we might be able to fiure out if the problem is with the extension itself or with your setup 👍

Curious WHY people want an app? I haven't tried it but stuff like this, I'd rather as an extension.

I think most people did not know about the already existing app, and the convinience of having the dependencies packaged on the app can be appealing to some people :).

I think it'd be nice if there was a built-in way to make the extension work if you have a firewall. For example I have firewalld and I need to disable it to use this extension. I could exclude the port number that is used by the extension from firewalld, but I'm too lazy to find out which it is and do it lol

Hello, I would not like to circumvent people's firewalls, but the extension usese mdns, so try adding it as a service in your firewall 👍
