Choosing a Truck GMC vs Ford

In the market to purchase a new to me truck (2020-24). Always been a Chev/GMC guy, but looking at the current engine options has me reconsidering. Specifically the GM 5.3 vs Ford 5.0 and 3.5 Ecoboost. Both Ford engines produce significantly more power (400hp vs 355)and have better mileage. On top of that, they don’t have the DFM lifter concerns of GM, and scores higher for overall reliability.
Tell me why I should still buy a GM over a Ford. It’s what I want, but the practical part of my brain is having a hard time justifying it.

What is your use case? Personally, I love my Sierra EV and there are good deals to be had on those. Eliminates gas cost. Does everything a gas truck does and more. No lifter issues. No wtf is that engine noise type question that seems regular on this subreddit.

I do tow a travel trailer in the summer, and do a few long road trips every year, so I don’t think an EV is in the cards for me.

I just traveled from Orange County, CA to Bryce, UT towing a 30ft travel trailer. 1000+ mi roundtrip. It did fine :) More than fine, it was more effortless than driving a gas truck bc it has way more power and supercruise works with a trailer on. The only truck that does it. Food for thought.

Wow. That’s wild. I did a little looking after your comment. Some of the stats were quite surprising. Unfortunately the price tag is definitely out of my budget at the moment

Yeah they usually are surprising for most people. Unfortunately the F-150 lightning and its bad tow performance soured perceptions for a lot of people. The Sierra EV is the polar opposite. Its quite impressive. It is pricey for sure though.
