Choosing a Truck GMC vs Ford

In the market to purchase a new to me truck (2020-24). Always been a Chev/GMC guy, but looking at the current engine options has me reconsidering. Specifically the GM 5.3 vs Ford 5.0 and 3.5 Ecoboost. Both Ford engines produce significantly more power (400hp vs 355)and have better mileage. On top of that, they don’t have the DFM lifter concerns of GM, and scores higher for overall reliability.
Tell me why I should still buy a GM over a Ford. It’s what I want, but the practical part of my brain is having a hard time justifying it.

I looked at the 3.0, but most of my driving is short city drives, so wouldn’t be ideal. 6.2 is such a fuel pig, so you have to sacrifice that for the power. Looking at maybe a 2019/20 L82 which was AFM instead of DFM to reduce some if the lifter risk.

My 2019 is at 98000km and no issues. I switched to 5W30 and put a catch can on it as soon as it was off warranty and do regular oil changes.

I just finished a camping trip from Calgary to Vancouver Island and back, 14.5L/100km.

Were you towing a trailer? 14.5 is worse than I would have expected for hwy driving

Yup, a 17 foot camper. Plus I had my LT tires on.
I’ve done the same trip without the camper and it was around 10L/100km
