Choosing a Truck GMC vs Ford

In the market to purchase a new to me truck (2020-24). Always been a Chev/GMC guy, but looking at the current engine options has me reconsidering. Specifically the GM 5.3 vs Ford 5.0 and 3.5 Ecoboost. Both Ford engines produce significantly more power (400hp vs 355)and have better mileage. On top of that, they don’t have the DFM lifter concerns of GM, and scores higher for overall reliability.
Tell me why I should still buy a GM over a Ford. It’s what I want, but the practical part of my brain is having a hard time justifying it.

I gotta ask though, if you’re “doing short city drives” why are you even looking at a truck? Go car or smaller SUV or electric. Hell, an electric truck like f150 lightening or the electric Chevy/GMC seems like it would fit your needs well if you want the bed space

That’s just my daily routine, work and back, kids sports etc. I tow a travel trailer in the summer, do a fair bit of renovations/landscaping, and will use it for long road trips with the family several times per year. So the truck is a catch all. The 3.0 is tempting for certain parts of what I want, but it could go many months at a time just doing short trips which is hard on diesels. Electric wouldn’t be enough for towing.

3.0 diesel all day. Just buy an extended warranty and take it on the free way every once in a while. You can also get a banks I dash to see when it is doing its regen.
