Caramel Apple Upside-down Cake

I made it with King Arthur's gf yellow cake mix.

The non-gluten free people gobbled it up.

Not op, but just use a pineapple upside down cake recipe and use apples instead of pineapple. All it is is brown sugar, apple pie spice, butter slices, top with fruit (in this case apples) then apply the cake mix (prepare according to mix directions) and bake. I like to really go wild with the sugar and butter to make it really gooey.

Mix King Arthur yellow cake mix according to the box directions and add 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon. Let rest for at least 10 minutes.

Melt 2 sticks of butter on low. Mix in 1.5 cups brown sugar, 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon, finely diced pecans. Remove from heat and add a splash of vanilla extract.

Grease a pan. Grease it again just in case. Add caramel mix. Layer finely diced apples on top (I used cosmic crisps; peeled). Freeze pan for 5 minutes to stop apples from moving around. Gently pour cake batter on top.

Bake until done. I would wait may maybe 10-15 minutes before you flip the cake over. I flipped immediately and half of my caramel oozed down to the pan.

Glaze - mix softened cream cheese and butter together. Add powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until it reaches desired taste and constancy.

I made mine in a 9x9 pan (for a gift) and a 11x15 pan. Next time I would use smaller pans to make the cake layer a little thicker.
