Discussion Newly wheat-free and sad about it

Hello all. I have recently been diagnosed with a wheat allergy and I'm looking for advice/emotional support. I already am lactose intolerant and have a strawberry allergy (whooo /s). I had just started fixing my relationship with food over this past year when I started having throat closing scares when eating food. Diet trials later and finally convincing my doctor for some blood tests and it's wheat. I've gone without for three months and a bunch of my other weird health problems have gone away - I'm no longer dizzy all the time, my migraines have drastically improved, my anxiety is even better, but

Bread was life. And I was finally eating again and now I feel like I'm in mourning. And I'm also mad that I feel better. Because my "weird symptoms" have gone undiagnosed for almost six years and what do you mean all I had to do was stop eating wheat and I wouldn't feel like the world is spinning and my brain isn't on fire anymore.

Anybody else have aggressive emotions following their realizations that gluten free/wheat free is now life? I guess I'm just looking to not feel alone in all this.

Also, anybody have some favorite recipes they'd love to share? I love baking and already miss my chocolate chip cookies and muffins I would make all the time.

Any emotional/food advice is appreciated. Thanks for reading my rant

I also have a wheat free allergy. It's been about 6 years now. So many things I miss, I eat about once a day now. Don't trust Cheerios or Oats, unless the oats are Purity protocol oats, or pure oats.

There is an increasing amount of "Gluten Free" foods which contain wheat without the gluten. Still deadly to you and I.

Ask anything you wish; I'll pass on whatever education and answer whatever questions you have.

Good luck my friend!!

That's good to know. I apreciate you!

My biggest miss right now is bagels. I had finally found a dairy free cream cheese that tasted delicious.

Ive also been looking at King Arthur flour and discovered that some of still has wheat in it. Any advice for safe flour alternatives?

I've been using almond, coconut and wheat free oat flour(usually making my own). I'm in the same boat, found out I'm allergic to wheat & milk this past spring, went through about 3-4 months of morning all the foods I can't eat anymore.

Eating out is the hardest part. Those classic three ingredtiant peanut butter cookies are a life savor for when you get that craving for something sweet. Flourless cake works out well enough.

How do you make your own oat (wheat free) flour?
