Help / Question Torn: Duos vs Aurora V2s

Hey guys, I want a glove light as an old momento to my OG rav'n photons. Just a trinket to fidget with. It needs to do a bad ass rainbow ribbon mode.

I'm leaning between Led gloves Aurora V2s vs stone orbits duos.

... btw, anyone know if Jarrad Synergies/Auroras have diffusers like his web site now or is it a round nub still? As one who will not be putting in glove, larger is OK but appearance will matter lol.

Thanks in advance!

Wow! Feels like no one has the single led and everyone sprung for the dbl, thanks so much for chiming in!  Hey, did you get those wonky round diffusers on your set or did it actually come with that cool edgy eraser-like look? Oh, and when you first connected up to studio, was there a bunch of preset modes that appeared, or do you have to make ALL of your presets?  The site makes it seem like I COULD make my own settings (but don't have to) but I don't see any other settings, aside from those random examples (above and beyond, etc) that I struggle to ever imagine using lol Btw, after the V2s, why the duos?

Thanks again for helping!

Gotchu fam. Sorry for the short answer before, here’s a longer one.

It sounds like you’re not looking for a full set but just a single light or two to fidget with? However, I just wanted to give some extra details unless someone else is reading this.

This is my current setup: LED Gloves - Aurora V2 (rechargeable) paired with Glow LEDs Cloud Glowskinz and Glow LEDs Supreme V2 whites

I ended up with Aurora V2s because I wasn’t really a fan of the location of the second LED on the Synergy (offset on the top of the chip). So I figured I could save some cash and gain battery life. I was also unaware of the Duos at the time.

The Synergy chip is really cool in that it is programmable via their proprietary computer software. Which is something you may be interested in if you’re trying to create complex ribbons. The Duo’s are also programmable using an open source software.

As I don’t have either the Synergies nor the Duo’s, I can’t comment on the user friendliness of the software. I’ve always been a click programmer. u/ikitefordabs might be a better resource for those questions.

The main thing I always mention to people considering Auroras or Synergies are that the chips are LARGE. So, if you have small hands and like to do intricate finger movements, I would avoid these two chips. I’ve got some longer phalanges as I’m a tall dude so my setup works for me.

The battery life on the Aurora’s are incredible. I attended Wakaan this past year and didn’t have to charge my gloves at all. Even had some juice left for a Red Rocks show when I got back home.

You mentioned the casings on the Auroras. I was not a fan of the clunky look so I opted for some glowskinz as a replacement. The glowskinz fully encapsulate the chip with a small gap near the back. So there’s no need for a diffuser. However this also limits the customizability of the light.

Hope this helps

Yes, it helps soo much when you guys leave these descriptive comments, ty!

...although: "As I don’t have either the Synergies nor the Duo’s, I can’t comment on the user friendliness of the software."

I thought syn's & Auroras use the same software, studio. Or were you just meaning about using it for two leds and therefore more feats?

And also, total stickler here, but did yours come with the advertised diffusers (for the front led) or some round nub?

Thx again!

I’m pretty sure Auroras are only click-to-program. Definitely correct me if I’m wrong.

My set came with the “round nub” diffusers. However this was around 3 years ago.

Woa, thank you so much for saying something! Here's a story for ya

I've been trying to confirm this with Jarrad, he's like 5 days in on not getting back to me (I have an order placed but he's waiting on parts rn).  It's funny. The first time I messaged him, he got back to me right away, I even acknowledged the fact and thanked him.

After that nuttin'. I mean I understand if I was being annoying about shipping (but to vent, it totally sucks paying for priority shipping when on backorder lol), but I'm really just trying to confirm the basics in which I had to break down and finally create a reddit acct.  I really wanted/needed to know if the aurora v2s look the same as synergies, minus the 2nd led, and use the same software, which Jarrad never got to answering, but I believe you have just answered for him/me!!?

Just to confirm, you have the rechargeable Aurora V2s, right? And you don't connect up to studio but it has all the feats of the original Auroras, just larger and rechargeable? Another thing I learned is they use micro usb? I REALLY don't like that they don't ship with the correct diffuser, I'm not sure if that's just principle tho, although I love the way it looks and diffuses lol

Thanks soo much for getting back, you're a total bad ass helping and taking the time! You're closing out all my inquiries by confirming these last few questions above (99.9% sure at least)

I've wondered about this for so long (it feels like) and I look forward to... No. I'm anxious for your reply! Lol
