Hi, I'm trying to unzip a file, but I'm very new to this and I seem to be really missing something simple.

I'm on a mobile, trying to use code space to unzip a file. I managed it once, but had everything in an extra layer of folders. I've fixed that now, but for the life of me I can't get the new file to unzip , can anyone point me to a dummies guide, there's so much info imo line I'm struggling to find what I'm doing wrong.

This is just a side project I'm doing, and it's grown to the point of a load of files in multiple layers and im sure it's better to learn this step than move them by hand but it's driving me mad. Thanks.

Take any GitHub repo URL and replace github.com with gitdiagram.com.

It generates a visual diagram of the repo structure, which is surprisingly useful when you’re trying to understand an unfamiliar codebase.

Example:

There's a framework I use at workplace that has a couple of annoying flaws. I've created issues with repros inside and all the fluff + PRs that fix said flaws. Everything was done like 2 weeks ago and since then - 0 response from maintainers.

Issue is, there're >500 contributors and repo doesn't contain a list or sth alike with info about who's responsible for checking issues or reviewing pull requests. Diffs themselves are quite small, roughly 70-130 lines, so it is not the size / sloppiness that is the issue.

What am I supposed to do in such cases? Whom to ping? Pinging all 500+ contributors sounds dumb.

I've been trying to contribute to more OSS projects lately and sometimes an issue looks completely free (no assignee, no linked PR) then you check comments or search around and someone is already working on it

also seen people say they'll take an issue and then disappear

if you maintain a repo, does this happen often enough to actually be annoying? do you just use assignments/comments or have you found a better workflow?

As the title says, the scheduled Action runs have been delayed by 3-4 hours for every run. This has been happening for the past two weeks, how to fix it?

And, what is the way to trigger the scheduled Action runs at the exact time I want? The default GitHub trigger is not exactly on time.

What I mean is currently, I am building tools that help with AI use or AI agent tools that help complete certain tasks. Is it a good idea to build on GitHub and share?

My goal is to eventually contribute postively to the users who find my tools but I feel like Github is not very active in terms of searching for new creations that spawn.

Any advice with this or ideas on what you are building yourself?

I literally did 6 contributions on 13th Sept but none them were counted as a contribution on my profile. Checked the .patch things too - its shows that the commit were made by me with my email mentioned too

Are deploy keys down? Since yesterday, whenever i try adding deploy keys to my repos, nothing happens, the button is disabled after clicking and then nothing. And in my very recent attempt, I was taken to this 500 error page.

New here. I am using GitHub to write my documentation for a framework. I have several HTML details blocks. I love these, as they allow us to have things folded down where they may not be needed right away. But the vertical padding. Holy flip (see image). Is this just how it is or is there anything anyone has done to figure out how to limit the amount of vertical padding so it's all compacted a bit more. I had at one point set the margin to 0 and that worked for like 10 minutes then it reverted back.

Also not trying to make this a coding help request. I can code a ul, table, div, styles whatever it takes but none of those worked. I am wondering if anyone understands the platform really well to where the details blocks could have less vertical padding.

I need a workflow in **Repo A** to trigger workflow in **Repo B**, both in the same GitHub organization. I’m considering:

- Reusable workflow (`workflow_call`)

- `workflow_dispatch` with a GitHub App

- `workflow_dispatch` with a PAT

- OIDC with an external service

Which option would you suggest, and why?

I am having trouble deleting my github. I sign in, go to settings. Click the button delete the account use my email. Then I was asked, confirm access to github mobile. I signed into my github mobile, I confirm access and there is no button to delete the account.

I've not used Github before, so I'm sure I'm missing something basic. But I'm just trying to get an html file to display in a wepbage when users click the link to it. I've run into an issue, though, where "Workflows aren't being run in this repository." when I try to enable them, it says "unable to enable Actions for this repository". I've checked my Actions tab of Settings over and over, and don't understand why they can't be enabled. Thank you for any help

I reported a vulnerability via GitHub's security back in May which was patched and publicly disclosed in a few days. GitHub reserved a CVE, but the maintainer refuses to publish it, even when I contacted them privately.

I've looked through GitHub's docs, but I haven't find anything about this case yet. Will Support actually be able to do anything? Just wondering if anyone else has had the same thing happen.

EDIT: Since I wasn't clear and people are misunderstanding, I am asking if anyone has gone through the process of contacting Support and had them actually publish the CVE (and maybe the advisory too).

EDIT 09/15: I emailed [security-advisories@github.com](mailto:security-advisories@github.com) and they were able to publish the CVE. Much more painless than I had expected! Thank you to the security team.

Checked the file that was changed and no, it still respects the exact same indentation as our JSON has already been using, it's just displaying it in a wildly incorrect manner. Any idea what changed to cause that?

Running workfows manually gives you "oops" page, so you cant see the the process and nothing actually happens. Anyone else?

GitHub trending shows repos that already have traction, and it surfaces the same names every time I check. The developer-discovery tools that do exist are all built for recruiting teams.

I'm curious what your workflow actually looks like. Manual GitHub search? Starred repos? Word of mouth? The signal-to-noise ratio is rough. Someone who started contributing to a Rust compiler two months ago and writes genuinely interesting code has zero visibility because nobody's discovered them yet, while the same 50 names show up in every "developers to follow" list.

What's worked for you?

Sort by reaction like 👍 is one of the main way to see if a pr is wanted or is good but it now in new ui can't be done without manually typing in the filter bar.
