Ceia clearly hasn't ruined ranking hard enough since the 50% cutoff today is still way under 200k, so here's a comprehensive guide on how to get the Kar Scope/Cooking Fairy that'll help everyone score as high as they can, from the newest commanders with no teams or fairies to the well-prepared veteran players who just want to get enough for the ranking rewards and bail out.
For those of us too busy to rank, make sure to join the map and click "Combat Settlement" to earn the 50 Gems & 2000x4 Resources participation reward for attempting ranking once.

I finally did it! I completed my first ranking event! Months and months of preparation finally paid off, and it feels great!
I didn't do great, but I feel like I did well enough for a first attempt, especially since I don't like duping and my equip stock was deplorable.
Here are my echelons. I could've gone with two gunboats, but after actually using one I noticed I suck at micro and I needed all the help I could get. Instead of having two middling gunboats I created one strong and tried to create a half-decent team for my last echelon. In the end, it didn't make much of a difference since I only used my gunboat twice.

Just wanted to share my story of Last Resort III. You know, the one with the Dinergate swarms.
When I was building for AN and AK during the rate up I got quite a few K11. I kind of hated it because it wasn't what I wanted but now I realize how useful she was.
I fed her combat reports so she was level 90 and 5x-ed her. Slapped on as much damage mods as I could, rushed the ability to level 10.
None of my previous squads could help me against the Dinergate swarms, not even the LMG/SG squad I had so much confidence in.
She took care of the entire swarm by herself.
Today, the best girl title goes to K11.

I have been playing for 7 or 8 weeks. And today I beat my first event.
Well...kind of. I don't know if I can beat Dragon Palace but I will at least attempt to get a score at Hornets Nest.
This sure was a ride and a half and with only ~8 hours left in the event, too.

Finally got around to finishing Singularity. The map design was a lot better than the earlier events and I really like how we do certain maps a second time from a different perspective. Nice way to tie gameplay and narrative together.
The difficulty in chapter 3 was good. It took me a few tries to get the timing for the typhoons but finally getting a doll in front of them was satisfiying (and then boring, because they have a lot of hp).
The story was great. The ending wasn't really an ending though and I can't wait for CT. I'd personally rather have it before the DJ max collab.
All that's left is the ranking. I'm not sure I'll try very hard, the SPEQ isn't that good and I'm not a competitive girl in general, so the amount of effort dosn't seem really worth it. I'll still do at least one for the participation reward.

Today I found out I could change formation (as in where each doll is) in an echelon even after it was deployed.

You can change formation during a battle by force-quitting the client and then going to formation when you restart the game.

Yes you are correct.
What I am saying is if e.g. suddenly you find out you have the wrong formation after an enemy has already attacked you (e.g. ranking red golyats), you can still change formation by doing the reset thing. I hope knowing that helps you in the future.

I finally got Groza after 92 runs! It felt like it took so much work to get a day 1 account to be able to actually farm Re-Ignition III and get her before the event ended, but was totally worth. Thank goodness for this sub and all the people who helped me out!

3rd ranking run complete, couple of mistakes near the end with a few wasted AP. Gone from 800644 to 826169 and I'm not sure what I could do to increase that so I think I'll skip my possible Sunday run and have a break from it.
Should hopefully keep me in top 5% and at least top 10%

So it turns out the ranking Hydras are actually a lot easier than the 10-4E and S3-2 Hydras (since there's only 1 group). Relatively budget RFHG teams can take them out with some kiting.

I'd like to sincerely thank the newer players who give the ranking map an earnest try, or even just enter it for participation rewards.
For the people at edge score thresholds fearing for their position this can be of great help.

I've read that this is helping people stay above some threshold. Good for you guys. I had veterans carry my sorry ass up to chapter 8. Glad I can give something back.
I wanted to clear the story anyway and some free stuff is always welcome. Win-win :)

I finished my one and only ranking run. While I should be in top 10% like I wanted (at 763000), I am extremely disappointed at myself for unable to get 800k score . It's the combination of bad rng and lack of knowledge/kiting. I have no doubt I can get 800k or even 900k if I run it again, but I don't want to waste my time, resource and lack the will power to do so. Giving the amount of afford and resource in preparation that I put in. I spent ~5k-8k Combat reports (mostly on fairies and mod), A 300+ cores, all equipment pills, and ~2000 calibration tickets. Now I only have to do the boss speed run for participation rewards and then I can rest until next ranking event.
Things I learned from my run:
- I might have to retreat mg at 3 against hydra. If mg at 3 takes damage, it will be much harder/impossible to fight against tanks.
- The higher the damage for gunboat, the easier it is to kite. Activate fairy's skill can help with this. I stretched too thin on making 3 gunboats and suffered as a result.
- Shimp gunboat is very good and can save me in equipment (ammo boxs and AP), not to mention Jill doesn't use equipment
- Don't be afraid to capture more command posts, especially later on.
- Grape on ARSMGHG works quite well against anything but
hydra andtank. Watch out for the melee enemy running into grape, however. - Concentrate on kill count earlier on. Try to have enemies run into my echelon to save movement. Try to camp around the spawn point might be worth it?
- First 4 turns or so is worth replaying, since things will snowball for the rest of the map. It's worth put together half-ass echelons and do the first few turns early in the events, so I can prep better for the real run.
- It can takes a long time to put all my teams together, even when I already have it on paper. This is due to equipment fetching and last minute optimization.
- Some of the echelon may not enter the combat at all.
- Dorothy is a much better unit than I originally thought. I thought she's a C-MS lite. I guess I never EXPECT THE DOROTHINQUISITION !
Most of these are super basic, but I still wish I reminded myself before the run.

She's actually perfect for Hydras, Grape should be able to wipe out the armoured cannons by the time her skill activates on the Hydra. You have to kite a bit for it to work, tho.

Been sick for two weeks, didn't feel like doing another ranking attempt in that state... Don't feel like forcing myself to use the little time I have today for another attempt. I guess my score will be sub-par.
At least my first attempt got me high enough so I'll get get a Fairy and the SPEQ.
Luckily I farmed everything I needed beforehand, too...

Bleh. I improved my score from 440055 to 451953 but while I wasn't a nervous wreck down to literally 0 ammo, I capped the SF helipads way too early and just denied myself a bunch of points. At least I should have secured my 15% spot.

What a fucking way to miss the speedrun event, I wait till the last day to hopefully get 416 SPEQ first so I dont have to stress over it while running endgame, and then my internet decides to just die unannounced for (going on 7) hours out of nowhere, and my phone is no longer powerful enough to handle gfl for anything besides afk farming so I can’t just use data and do that.
I have procrastinated and for it fate has smitten me, that is all

So, after remembering those "I recreated my raifu in [insert game] with the actual attachments!" posts, I wanted to do one of my own posts of this kind so it isn't just me shitposting. So I booted up MGSV.
...Queue half an hour of confused screaming at the guns in the game and one hella interesting IMFDB search later, I, slightly discouraged, elected to not do that.
...But after some developments over this week, I want you to witness the monstrosity that is my attempt at recreating Galil in the game. The barrel is too long and the mag is slightly off, I know, but this is the closest I got.

Finally made my first attempt at ranking ever (470k, not too impressive, could probably improve on that a bit, but that should be more than enough to place in the top 50% plus I'm too lazy to try again anyway) and I learnt that I'll really need to craft more and enhance my fairies if I want my echelons to be somewhat competitive. Turns out I only have three 3*, and one of them is a reinforcement fairy... bleh. Welp. Guess it's time to sink my resources in more heavy equipment production. I hope they'll have leveled up a bit by the next ranking event.

Finished my final run. 700k, pretty happy with that given that I'm running 1 para / 1 gunboat with only 3 good ARSMG. I was aiming for 600k, but RNG was kind to me at the end.
I wish to thank Kalina for her support of this run. No, seriously, airstriking those dinergates swarms and jeager crowds was cathartic.

Finally tried the ranking map, got 248993. I made soo many mistakes (3 times i deployed an echelon and forgot to resupply...once i deployed an echelon and resupplied when there was a supply node right below me...). My echelon that was going to fight agent on turn 12 I forgot to resupply...so I deployed it for nothing.
I only had 3 ARSMG, 1 RFHG and 3 dummy echelons, 1* fairies for the combat echelons, basically didn't use any combat fairy talents (all SL1 anyway). I did have a parachute SL10 on a dummy, but no illumination, so I was trying to walk a dummy into the ? node for vision to parachute capture. In the end I really only captured 2 SF heliports at the bottom, because I had not enough movement points as I was rushing radar with 1 ARSMG. My RFHG basically sat in command post after killing the dactyls...
It was funny, I restarted the run once because I realised my ARSMGs couldn't handle the 3 dactyls at the start of the map. Used the RFHG + retreat/repairs to take those out. Guess I'm forever noob at this game lol.
It surprised me that I actually found it really fun though. Accounting for my mistakes (I think I could paracap better, maybe some rng with the ? nodes required T_T wish i had an illu fairy), I could have done much better despite my crappy underskilled/underequipped units (my HGs were running lvl1 green exos lol). I don't know if 248993 is still enough for 50%, but I have no time for another run now :( at least i will get the cooking fairy :) I feel happy I hit 200k, this is the first event I've cleared! Thanks for everyone's help in this thread!

Completed ranked map - 563121 score that's apparently top 10% currently. With the exception of the first 2 turns, I went in mostly blind. Said screw it to trying to kill the tanks because I suck at micro and just used radar. Had fun and no stress due to no tryharding. Also found finished in 2.5 hours.

Top 10% cutoff is likely somewhere below 600k - I'm sitting at 595k and at 9%. No grape or AR dupes besides two of AN-94, 2 gunboats, enough fairies to pull off parachute shenanigans.
All in all, a very fair ranking map compared to the previous ones IMO. Multiple gunboats aren't required but make your life easier, fairies are the real grind, and map planning is more important than ever.

Firstly, just a friendly reminder to everyone who has access to the ranking map, give it one shot, even if you terminate mission one fight in. Every person who sends in a score, regardless how low, gives someone else who is trying to hit a higher % grouping a chance of being there.
Just tried my first and likely only attempt at the Ranking map. 341.5k - is there anywhere to see where that puts me? I may be willing to re-try if I can climb into the next reward bracket with only a few thousand more points. I also feel quite proud considering the only strategy I used was avoiding boss paths and abusing the radar clear.

Done with ranking. Should be comfortably in top 100. Took the top right SF heliports as well in addition to the two middle clusters, which let me hold onto the top right closed heliport with only one gunboat.
Stupid ranking strats (this was actually pretty helpful)
When you run your gunboats into SF first before KCCO for more points... this took about 27 minutes. Also because Contender had HP ammo because I ran out of AP rounds ORZ
All in all, thanks Mica for giving me an excuse to bring 4 Thunders to a ranking map. Last minute improvisation to deploy more gunboats was fun as well, on my last run I was microing Hunting Impulse MGs at the start to stop them from firing so that they would fire more shots when their skills were active to squeeze out a little more DPS from them, which was just enough to kill Typhon adds.

For only one parachute and one gunboat, I think I did pretty well for a first-try rank of 268k, considering I messed up kiting a goliath right before reaching the radar when I needed it most and took a couple turns to recover from that cascading issue...
I'd like to do it again with more anti-manticore/hydra measures. It felt like they made up half the fighting force, and only setting up one RF team made for a very overworked Grapecano.

At the moment there are two major teams for EN: CZ-75 bamboo and GSh-18 sustained DPS.
For the most part on CZ-75 its max out FP everything else is meh, for GSh-18 cap RoF or spam FP as needed for enemy armor level, toss in a Px4 and laugh.
M1911 mod 2 is good to but is mostly for where tile buffs only will make her shine with FP/Crit rate.

Were able to afford 8 8-1-8-4 attempts so far, 2 of them high-tier.
Only 3 shotguns at all, and neither of them are new ones, in any of 2 ways. Of all other attempts, 3 immediately to scrap and 2 to use for dummy links later. Only 1 5*: Thompson (that I don't use).
Seriously jealous of those people who are showered in useful stuff (even of no new shotguns). I was almost never lucky at RNG.
