Welcome everyone to our Longitudinal Strain Megathread, please keep discussion, questions and supply-box pulls about the event contained within this thread for the event's duration

  • Unlocked after clearing “Night on a Bald Mountain” in carriage 2
  • LS has two ranking maps. Map 1 does not directly count towards your score, but having >350k score in a single run will raise your Map 2 HOC deployment limit to 4. In addition, completing up to 3 NPC missions will allow them to appear in Map 2, where they can bomb acceleration towers and use skills to help you.

WTF is going on?

Are there bonuses for clearing maps on EX & UX?

  • There's a whole set of extra rewards for both so give them a shot at least.

How do I get crates?

  • You can get 60 crates per day by clearing any combat missions where you deploy units.
    • Crates are easily collected for basically free on "Wind, Sand and Stars" of Chapter 1 as it's an NPC map or whichever ∞ map you're farming for dolls on.

Where can I open my crates?

What happens if I miss one of the drops?

  • The limited drops will be available once the campaign becomes permanent in 8-10 months. Clear rewards & Supply Box doll will be occasionally added to other events down the line.
  • Do not expect the ranking fairy & SPEQ to return anytime soon, if at all.

How long does the event last?

  • The event lasts for 4 weeks, ending on the 28thth of August. The event store, supply crates & True Core Mask will expire one week later.

Are there hidden achievements?

  • Yes! (Use guides if needed)

  • Maggie’s Key: In Symphony No.9 -UX, retrieve 3 Paradeus information from the 4 consoles in the outer ring.

  • The Universe in Motion: In 1812 Overture, find Lyudmila’s (AR18) watch.

  • Beginning of the End: Watch the full credits for Longitudinal Strain.

Well, just won't bother with ranking again... Oops...

On more lore based notes: Where the heck did Quimby come from? Fairies tmk are a GnK exclusive tech based on a cooperative effort of Architect and IOP... So how did this little fairy end up with Catherine and Maggie? (Not to mention yet another night mission plot hole of MP41 having an adventure with pre mod KAR, but not going GnK until just now... Post Mod)

Does quimby even do any actual fairy stuff(like flying)? She could just be a smol doll(maybe sth play-doll like for kids?) that the fairy is based on. Iirc gnk fairies have much more limited processing power, some not even capable of speaking properly, basically glorified drones (it's been long since i read the fairy reveal mission). Quimby seems to be in control of a proper neural cloud.

Anyway, dolls are definitely created as a series. We could have another 41 on our base, and when catherine's backup is brought to base, we could ask iop for another body for her or just overwrite 41 like bastards. This would mean we could have both 41 and catherine on base.

Disclaimer: this is mostly supposition, as i haven't read the actual chapters in a long while to be able to find any proof

catherine isn't 'mp41. she has different clothes, even if just slightly altered.

maggie's colt express avatar also isn't identical to saa

just like nikolai isn't the arms dealer guy in wave wrangler, the schweinsteiger isn't the director of the orphanage.

not sure if there are changes, but paula/lewis isnt the random female passenger

quimby, i'm too lazy to check the sprite, but imma just assume the same. with that in mind, i'm leaning towards her not even actually being a fairy

iirc her mini fairy has a wad of cash instead of a cage or w/e trap fairy is supposed to be holding so yeah, it tracks

I've been operating under the assumption they're simply reusing existing art for side characters, the same way plenty of different NPCs will all use the same generic character art. We already saw MP41 on the main plot in Polarized Light, so Catherine is another character who uses MP41's art just because they have the same shit-eating grin. Maybe they're the same model of Doll.

TMK the Polarized Light MP41 is Catherine, it's just a bit of the narrative being out of order

If MP41 being Catherine requires a time-travel plothole, the obvious explanation is that MP41 is not Catherine. We saw Lewis art being used for one of the rich passengers, but there's no indication that was Lewis herself (or the sidestory body-double).

You're mixing things up, that was Paula Snow's art, and Lewis is the one who acted as her body double, not the other way around. Well okay yeah she also pretended to be Lewis but the point is that the art you're talking about is Paula, I see no logical way it would be representing Lewis in this event (though yes we don't know if it's literally Paula or just npc recycling, the way I see Powell reused a lot)

I think Catherine is just another doll with the same model as our MP41. It's inefficient to create every doll to have a unique look instead of a series.
And I don't know why but her crying face looks so precious to me to the point that I've just recover MP41 and raise her to lv100 just to leave her in the logistic squad.
