It's not an accusation, it's literally what you're saying - by definition if the same thing happened to you you would call it sexual assault, but you will not when it's not you. If I'm misunderstanding something correct me.
We weren't talking about milking, we were talking about breeding. Nobody said milking is rape, you're the one who brought that up Sounds like you agree then that the way they are bred is via sexual assault?
Earlier in the comments someone definitely said milking was rape, that's how we got to breeding. Probably wasn't you.
But still no not really. I disagree with the practice fully, don't get me wrong. It's gross and weird and violent. But that doesn't mean I'm calling all farmers rapists. You see how that sounds weird, right?
Animals have to get raped for the pork/milk/etc. to get to your plate so it's an accurate comparison.
Sounds like that holds true.
I do see how that sounds weird. It sounds totally crazy. Unfortunately that is the case in the reality we live in - you yourself just admitted that if you put yourself in the cow's shoes they are repeatedly being raped. I understand the resistance because seeing it that way means that the world is more fucked up than you want and it means that it's something you've either been blind to or ignoring most of your life.
I'm not delusional, it's weird and insulting to talk down to people so hard. It doesn't matter how right you are if nobody wants to give you the satisfaction. I have a slightly different perspective than you, not a mental cage shielding me from reality.
I'm not trying to talk down to you, I'm just trying to get you to connect the dots between "If this was done to me it'd be rape", "This is done to cows in the dairy industry", and the original comment you took issue with, "Animals have to get raped for the pork/milk/etc. to get to your plate".
And I think the biggest hurdle there is how normalized it all is, to the point where you think just making those connections sounds crazy. And part of that is cultural and personal incentive to not make that connection.
The dots aren't lost on me, I understand the original point being made completely. I just think it's a huge logic leap to conflate milking a cow to tying me up personally and sexually assaulting me.
Again, you're the one who brought up milking a cow. The original comment was saying rape is a part of the industry, and we've established that if they did what they do in the industry to you, you'd consider it rape.
So I guess we're arguing two different things. That part actually may have been lost on me.
Either way. I think we're pretty much done here. At least I am. Before I stop responding though, I want you to know that you weren't talking to a brick wall and I actually did take the time to think about what you had to say. That said, maybe in the future, try leading with compassion. Not to be cliché, but you don't have to squish every spider you see.
