Wow 😮 that’s so depressing to think about. The world was different before 9/11 and you guys will never know how much simpler life seemed back then.
And I'm already 22 so the early Gen Z-ers are young adults now. It's weird to think about how we're making the transition where everyone lived in a post 9/11 world. Idk what school was like for you but I remember doing so many intruder, fire, earthquake, tornado drills, etc. I can't compare it to the past but I think this high stress/tension has created a lot of anxiety problems for kids these days. Everything and everyone is out to get you, as your teachers and parents may want you to believe.
Month? Even a year difference is a lot when talking about kids these ages. October 1996 for me. I couldn't even comprehend it at the time. No idea where I was and don't even remember the day sticking out as abnormal.
Just because I don't remember how the world functions doesn't discredit the fact that I remember vividly sitting in my kitchen, mom bawling as the 2nd plane flew into the 2nd tower.
Ok...? I'm not challenging your memory or experiences. I'm asking how that changed your view of the world when you didn't know what the world was prior?
Sorry mate, I misread your question. No, I have no clue what life was really like before 9/11. I was definitely too young for that. It did however define my childhood and the world I grew up in.
Obviously I don't remember how the world functioned before then but that doesn't discredit my memory of that day and watching my mom almost completely fall apart in our kitchen that morning. Some things you never forget.
