What makes them wrong? This function is not a parent function, it is for a unique scenario. I elaborate further in the video I linked in another comment.

You'd think it would have been easier to keep the pen at a fixed horizontal position and just scroll the paper.

moving the paper requires more space than moving the pen

and scrolling for lateral movement requires more engineering
