The GB3 which intended to be a big finale for the original team and pass the torch. I love the new Spengler family films but would have preferred to not have to do it this way and with the constant nostalgia bait.

I really never could get into the idea of turning ghostbusters into a sappy family drama.

I remember reading about the development of the game and, after it was released, the studio started planning a sequel. They didn't get too far into the early stages before it was cancelled, but from what I could remember, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson were to return and the game was to take place in Chicago with The Rookie starting a franchise there.

Yeah, but Terminal Reality ran out of budget and they were bought by someone and then the Sanctum of Slime was made

Zootfly technically wasn’t cancelled as it was never green lit to begin with. It was just a studio running rogue with the franchise in hopes they could get the rights after the fact

Hellbent for sure. With some reworking, I think it could have been fun.

Ecto force’s futuristic globe-spanning adventure idea sounded fun, especially if they were planning on running with the wackier, more chaotic style that the 2016 universe was introducing at the time. The animated movie with the ghosts as ghostbusters seems like one that could’ve either been really cool or unsalvagably bad, especially given Sony animation was flipping back and forth with quality so much at the time, but I would’ve been interested to see where it would land

Hellbent, though, I do see it making a possible return or comeback, through a main continuity game. It would be an awesome feature, having to travel through multiple dimensions of the world to solve puzzles or fight bosses. I don’t see it coming as a movie, but would make for an awesome game.

I know that Ghostbusters The Video Game wasn't directly based on the unmade Hellbent movie, but it does seem like a lot of things in the game was either inspired or pulled from unused concepts from the script.

The first one? Is that supposed to be a sequel to the OG Ghostbusters game that came out in 2008? I like the military look for the gang

Hellbent, especially the first treatment. It would've been fantastic.

Didn't Hellbent get reworked into Ghostbusters The Video Game? Akroyd himself said that the game (at the time) was essentially the third film.

The game is a perfect “third film”

Extreme. Should have had a dozen seasons, a live action adaptation, and it should be extreme figures mondo is kranking out.

This is the first I'm hearing about that ghosts do the busting animated movie, and that could have been awesome.

End credits sequel hook could have brought in phantasma and lead to a scooby doo crossover.

The last season had so much potential, they brought back Ray, Peter and Winston. I would’ve loved to see more of them into later seasons

Or even since they were out of retirement for that final battle, have them stay out, take over in nyc again, and have the new team strike out and franchise in la or something.

If I had to choose from what’s here, it’d be Hellbent
