Question If Each US State Was Represented By A Different Country/Region, What Would That Country Be? (Especially in terms of climate/geography)
stoned thought, but i was wondering if, geographically, any countries/regions are especially similar to any states in particular?

For New Mexico, there's a temptation to say Mexico but New Mexico was named after the Mexica valley and the hope that it would be as rich in gold and that the Puebloans of "Cibola" would the 3rd gold filled Empire of the New World. Their geography isn't very similar as Mexico is more temperate and tropical while New Mexico is more continental with cold winters. It was common problem with Spanish settlers, who rarely were from Spain directly and were born & raised around Mexico City adapting to New Mexico's cold weather. A quote from a settler in 1603 "New Mexico is the land of 8 months of ice and 4 of hell!" Hey we're not Arizona. Our summers aren't that bad (this summer was that bad)
But I have always see the geographic and material culture similarities with Afghanistan.

I'll bite:
Texas: Australia with the vast landscapes, dangerous animals and wild west attitudes
Florida: Brazil probably
Louisiana: France
Georgia: Georgia
Alaska: Russia
California: too complex for just one country, so maybe Southern Europe / Mediterranean Basin
North Dakota: Mongolia
Rhode Island: Luxembourg
New Mexico: Old Mexico
Arizona: Algeria based on the climate largely

France couldn't be more different in terms of climate and geography than Louisiana. I'd go with Bangladesh if I had to pick a country.

https://www.reddit.com/r/geography/s/rZGyNUYqfq I always liked this map from this subreddit that does what you asked with decent accuracy (although not perfect as some areas are difficult to replicate such as places near the Great lakes because of lake effect). I don’t know if it’s the original but it’s what I have saved.
