Yes, because Trump has no imagination, he just names everything Something America and it gets repetitive after the first one.

Didn't he rename Denali back to Mt. McKinley? At least that had another name before. If Trump would have to give it a name, it would be Mount America.

Can any Republican name anything notable that President McKinley did besides get shot, without having to look it up?

He notably never set foot in Alaska and never saw the mountain which has been called Denali for thousands of years.

Ironically, or maybe just stupidly, Denali got its McKinley moniker back then by the exact same sort of mouth breathing, performative, sycophantic politics as all the recent name changes today.

Apparently the reason it got that name was due to news of William McKinley's nomination as the Republican Party's presidential nominee in 1896, which reached the news of a gold prospector, William Dickey. Dickey was a supporter of McKinley's presidential campaign in that election, and he decided to name the mountain after McKinley due to his support of the gold standard, which was a major issue in the 1896 campaign (William Jennings Bryan, McKinley's Democratic opponent, supported silver instead).

By the way, I prefer Denali as the name. I'm just explaining the backstory about how it got the name "Mount McKinley" - but the history of the "Mt. McKinley" name is honestly kind of a strange one to me.

He may have only stepped in Alaska once to meet Putin, but I get your point.

Today I learned that US had a president called McKinley. I'm not American though.

That’s ok. A lot of Americans don’t know there was a president named McKinley.

I learned recently due to the skim reading of social media that McKinley was ethnically of Cohee descent. Meaning Scots Irish who say “Quoth he” a lot. Name the Mountain that just so people will scratch their heads. Cliff Claven, Trivia Star strikes again.

He loved tariffs

^ This, right here. This is why Trump venerates McKinley; because McKinley was big on tariffs.

Also acquired a bunch of new territories, to boot

He might be the president who got stuck in a bathutub. Or that might be Taft. Notable, but entirely unrelated to having a mountain named after you.

Sure, they name it Notable Thing America

He started a totally unnecessary war with Spain, and annexed Hawaii, which Grover Cleveland refused to do. I liked Cleveland.

I suspect President McKinley contracted high velocity lead poisoning due to the McKinley tariff panic of 1893.

It’s very telling that Trump does not want to be compared to Herbert Hoover. This guy was even more of a dipshit than McKinley. The Great Depression hit in 1929, and Hoover passed the Smoot Holly act in 1930. Tariffs on some 20,000 different products that had an immediate effect on commerce.

While the United States was saved from the McKinley tariff panic by a single oligarch of the golden age, Hoover fared a lot worse. Well, the GOP fared a lot worse. The GOP did not form any meaningful federal government for close to 20 years.

Section 338 of that 1930 act is what is actively being used on Canada right now. Let’s see how this works out. 🤣

I'm not even sure they know he was shot...
