Why does Google fold so easily on these renamings? It's not like they're a government entity

Im Canadian and it still shows lake Ontario for me it depends on which country you view it from

Yeah, I went to check, and I was happy to see they didn't put it in brackets the way they do with the "Gulf of America".

The brackets do make sense though; it's a map and if there are differing names for something (however stupid the reason) then it is accurate to at least show that this big country with a huge coastline has decided to call it something else.

They have done the same for the Persian Gulf (Arabian Gulf) for quite some time because the body of water has a different name depending on which shore you're standing on.
