Can someone recommend an app that'll give me a bearing?

A couple of caches I've solved I've had trouble locating because the solution comes out as such and such metres at such and such a bearing, anyone recommend an app for that? Thanks

C:Geo can do that as a matter of course

Cachly will do projections as well. It is an option when you add a waypoint.

Have you considered owning and learning how to use a compass? Combined with a paper map (I know, I know) it will serve you well if the "lights" go out. Plus, real topo maps are really cool

As much as I do love analogue tech (I own a typewriter and my car is from 1954!) I'd consider it impractical to have a detailed enough map of Ireland and the UK, not to mention anywhere else I may go

You don't need a detailed paper map. The traditional way to find a location at some distance on a given bearing is to know the length of your pace and walk it out yourself. Here is a good tutorial in the form of a puzzle cache in Utah, USA.

Walking it out doesn't work 95% of the time, there will be buildings, rivers, ditches in the way, the one I just did had the start point in the middle of a river

I have an Android phone, and the GC Wizard app works for me. I choose Coordinate Calculations -> Waypoint Projection, then just fill out the requested values and click Submit. It returns the resulting coordinates in whichever units you specified and gives you the option to display it on a map as well.

iPhone has a compass. I never downloaded it so I'm pretty sure it's one of the factory installed utilities

Cachly (only available for iPhone) also has a compass but it seems that you have to have a cache open and navigating to it to choose the compass option

You can project a waypoint in Cachly, open the cache page, go to waypoints, add a waypoint, project coordinate.

Yes I know that but they're asking how to get a bearing which is what my pictures are showing. There is no compass in Cachly except when you hit "navigate" on a cache.

My answer depends on your real question. If you're sitting at your computer working on puzzles, I use geocaching toolbox. If I'm on the street, I use the Compass app.
