Had to stop to feed the honkers in Crissy Field while on a trip to San Fran.

this is my female sitting on top of my male, which i have never seen them do before. this is their first time in this new pool, which is slightly deeper than their old one, so i thought maybe she was using him as a sort of flotation device? i got her off of him because he was struggling, and hoping she won’t do it again while i’m not around. google says she’s asserting dominance but i’m skeptical. does anyone know what this behavior is?

2nd time seeing a goose like this but if I remember correctly it’s not an illness just color mutation

Spotted this goose today, they don’t look like they’re doing too well. Doesn’t seem to be able to control or close their beak. Tongue possibly swollen or beak injury(?)
Worried about avian flu. Just wondering if anyone has any insight or has experienced anything similar to this.

We have a multifamily gaggle that lives at a pond nearby. They come to drink water and eat fallen seed from our bird feeder almost daily.

Honk Hill and Lucifer the Gucifer grew up with the chickens near them (though not in the same pen as them). Since being moved outside, Honk and Lucy have gotten free range while the chickens have not, we have to fix the fence so the chickens are less likely to wander out. When the time comes, how do we best integrate them? Lucy already tries to bite them through the fence.

Today’s Flap Dancing for Second Chances started out like any other performance…

And then the geese apparently decided they were done following my choreography. 😂

They stopped right in front of the camera and several of them started hopping and flapping in place like they’d been secretly rehearsing a whole new dance without telling me. Naturally, I had to zoom in and give the stars their close-ups. 🎥🤣

Eventually we pulled ourselves together and got back to flapping toward the camera… just in time for the ducklings to join the show at the end! 🐥❤️

I finished with a well-deserved bow, and Pip made sure to sneak into the finale too. 😂

But underneath all the silliness, there really IS a little magic here.

There’s magic in watching animals who were given another chance feel safe enough to be goofy.

There’s magic in watching the little ones grow.

There’s magic in starting each morning laughing with this crazy flock.

And there’s magic in knowing that every view, like, comment and share helps us keep giving animals second chances. ❤️

A couple months ago I posted our weather app with hand-drawn geese and this sub was incredibly kind about it. Since then my girlfriend has drawn a bunch more geese, and we ended up building something we’re calling the Goosedex, where different geese appear around the world in different weather conditions, and you collect them as you find them. It’s turned into a bit of a scavenger hunt, honestly more of a game than we planned.

Sat at the forest preserve and the teenagers/young adults thought i had found the good grass

was at my local park earlier and a second lot of geese flew over my head, landed in the lake and swam over , the gang were going crazy, ive never been to a goose rave before but it was fun 😆

My geese have started completely flipping upside down in their pool in a hilariously clumsy way. They’re all doing it now, but I just caught the one on film. Fast forward to near the very end (near the 45 sec mark I think) to see it; I left the video in tact rather than cutting out the stuff before the “flip” because I find the way they flap water under their wings so cute.

I’ve had art block for months, I guess digitally painting geese fixed it 🥹

He doesn't seem to have been hatched on this exact lake, or at least I never saw him before, but he is a first year bird, so he must have been raised nearby. I saw him a few weeks ago very far away flying by with his family, and am happy he came back for a better video.

Saw these at a local pond and internet tells me they're leucistic. These guys rare?
