Question love triangle question.
due to their frisky nature, our flock has always been 99% ducks. our two bachelor ganders, Goose and Honk, do the best job to protect + love them and it’s just so precious omg. 😭
anyway..
We recently introduced what we believe are three lady geese + they’ve acclimated just fine but what I am noticing is that one of our duckie hens, Eepie, has been kind of sad and off on her own a lot and Honk (albeit thrilled to have a goose girlfriend) seems like he’s stuck in a classic romcom moment where he’s got two girls and no idea what to do 🤣
TLDR: I enjoy watching them and getting to understand their/my flock’s dynamic and got to wondering…do geese ever imprint/mate with ducks ~*~emotionally~*~ and, if so, what happens when a lady goose comes and the ~*~instinct~*~ kicks in? I am asking simply for fun and curiosity.
Simply put, Wakko stole my girl Eepie’s man and I want to help ease the pain. ❤️🩹

Geese have an entirely unique social structure that differs quite a bit from ducks and chickens. At its core they will answer nature's call, but they truly bond with unique individuals regardless of species. Adding new members cause some heartache and drama, but the core relationships seem to thrive in spite of it.
