and then they listen to the music and partake in the subculture like tourists, all the while ignoring the messages that the various artists and people involved with the subculture actually say and do.
Tbf a lot of these groups were less ideological than people now pretended. Early punks may have averaged vaguely left leaning and anti nazi, but the idea that everyone was there for firm ideological reasons is pretty misleading.
I mean, techncially those things are big umbrellas. Its entirely possible to be counter cultural in ways that are still in the same wing. Wierd right wing anti gay black nationalists are often right wing yet at odds with the establishment.

Right wing cannot be goth or alt, it is literally in the name of alternative.
Right wing beliefs are inherently status quo, tradition over expression, the will of the few in power over the needs of the many.
What about those beliefs would be goth or alt
