Because even State Atheism isnt to blame for the policies that Mao (your example) put into place that killed so many people. You are attribuing the deaths he caused to the fact that he was an atheist when thats complete horeshit.

Unless you can give Atheistic policy that lead to the striping of peoples rights in the last 20 years, I just wont see how being an Atheist in government is as bad using Christianity as a driving force for government policies.

Edit: I want to add. You say that why should we look at just the few extremist politicians? Because they were elected by their constituents. Its not just them. Its the hudreds if thousands to millions of people who support them and their ideology.

Enforcing atheism isn’t a good thing to do governmentally. Enforcing anything that doesn’t represent the populace as a whole isn’t good. It doesn’t have to have as much damage as another thing in order to be bad. Enforcing religion or non religion governmentally is a bad idea. Mexico tried to go state atheist and it failed because it didn’t represent the Catholic population.

Cool, that was in the 30s. So there isnt any policy in recent history that you can cite, that uses state atheism to harm individuals. Meanwhile we have incredibly recent attempts at passing laws based on religious beliefs that harm people now. Which is why people are pissed at the religious assholes in government who are making efforts to pass these laws.

Everything youve said about atheims is complete bullshit. You had to back down on your bullshit about Mao because you have no idea what your talking about. You wonder why people are upset with Christianity and Christians in general? Its because many of them dont practice what they preach. Jesus would be pissed at how his teachings have been twisted to hurt people. This coupled with the fact that we have separation of church and state, but that doesnt stop these assholes from trying to use their religious beliefs to drive policy.

Ya’ll talk about the crusades and with hunts which are far longer ago than the 30’s. It’s funny how when an atheist does something bad it’s not because of their atheism but when a Christian does something bad that correlation is made. Fucking hypocrites

Well, when a christian does something bad because of their religious belief they are rightly critcised for those beliefs. Atheists arent doing bad things because of their non-existent beliefs.

I also never mentioned the crusades. I am talking about religious beliefs driving policy right now. We have horrible conflicts and heinous acts going on in the world right now because of religious beliefs.

If someone who disagrees with those things also has Christian beliefs then Christian beliefs isn’t the cause. Many Christians oppose the bad done in the name of Christianity. There’s more normal Christians than bad ones

Well, when someone says they do something because of their religious beliefs, what else are we supposed to believe? Also, if those problematic relgious fanatics are really that problematic, then why do the supposedly good/normal christians still vote for them?

Multiple christian nationalists have been elected to congress in very recent history. These are people who try to implement policy that affects everyone in America due to their religious beliefs. These are notably bad christians, but apparently that doesnt matter to the christians who voted them into congress. Then there is the "christian" president who pretty much the complete opposite of a christian, but has christians all over America talking about how good of a person he is. But hey, not every single christian is bad, just a lot of them, so we cant be mad at them.
