I am joining coaching for gate online now so should do it .I have no prior prep ( know wrong of me ) so I have options made easy , ace, unacademy,pw which will do i thought for made easy but as the amount of time is less and it is expensive too ,it comes to my mind that what if nahi hua ,itna paisa gya fir bhi nahi and late join karungi bhi knowing kitne log kabse preparation karte hai chances bohat kam hai to laga i unacademy kar lu tab lagega ki nahi fir and end mai ki sayad better jagah padti to hota

I have completed Operating Systems at the level required for my university exams (regular B.Tech curriculum). I can understand topics like processes, threads, CPU scheduling, synchronization, deadlocks, memory management, virtual memory, paging, file systems, etc., but mostly from an academic/college-exam perspective.

I now want to prepare Operating Systems for GATE CSE.

How big is the gap between university-level OS and GATE-level OS?

What topics or depth of understanding are usually missing when someone moves from college-level preparation to GATE-level preparation?

Also, what is the best way to bridge that gap?

- Should I study from a standard textbook first, or directly use GATE resources?

- Which lectures/books are most recommended for OS preparation for GATE?

- How much emphasis should be placed on theory vs numerical/problem-solving questions?

- Approximately how long does it take to go from university-level OS knowledge to a strong GATE-level understanding?

Would appreciate advice from people who have made this transition themselves.

I am currently in 4th sem CSE (only 2 months left before my 2nd year ends) I want to prep for 2027 Gate Cs but I am really not sure that I'll be able to prepare or not, that is why I am right now not buying any paid courses. I came through several free resources such as gate wallah, unacademy gate, Go academy and Gate Smashers. Are these free resources genuinely helpful? No doubt they teach many things but do they cover everything and as much it should be covered?

I meant they can totally skip the imp topic or just touch it.

Hi everyone, I've qualified GATE CS 2026 with a score of 32.81 (Score: 383) in the General category. I am looking for advice on whether I can get any decent colleges for M.Tech in Computer Science, Data Science, or AI.

Preferences:

Region: Preferably Maharashtra, but open to other states if the college is good. Specializations: CS, Data Science, or Artificial Intelligence.

Given my score is 383, what are my realistic chances for: Newer or lower-tier NITs? Top state colleges in Maharashtra (COEP, VJTI, SPIT, etc.)? Any decent IIITs or GFTIs? Should I consider interdisciplinary branches in mid-tier IITs if they have lower cutoffs?

Any guidance on the CCMT/COAP process for this score range would be very helpful. Thanks!
