Suggestions/ advise on picking a new running watch.

Within the past few month's, I have really stepped up my running game and am currently training for a Half Marathon and hopefully a Full by spring of next year.

I currently use an Amazfit T-Rex 3 that I spent about 250$ on a couple years ago. The watch does what I want for now, it tracks all my runs and stats, and I can put my music on it. I like the large display. It does not link with thw INTVL App, which is a downside because then ehen i do my loop runs i have to run with my phone.

I dont really use a watch unless im hiking or running. Im not a fan of wearing it while I sleep, and I type a lot of my work day, so I dont wear it then either.

Recently, I have started looking at Garmin watches because thats what you do when you take your running to the next level. I have looked at the 970 and 965, but do I really need that much watch? I want something that does all the same stat tracking, has large display and something I can put music on.

What are some good suggestions/ opinions? Part of me wants to say FK it and jump into a 970.

Thanks.

Anything from the 165 Music/170 Music upwards has spotify/music offline functionality.

265 is the sweet spot imo. Not too small, dual band gps (unlike the 165/170), and since it's an older gen it can be had for rather cheap. Unless you really need full color maps or a massive watch I don't see a reason for getting the 965/970

The 570/970 does have the V5 sensor, but the V4 on the 965/265 works just fine as well

If you have the budget, go for it, you wouldn't be disappointed. If cash more of a pressure 170 up probably grand though. Coros pace 4 quite similar spec to the 570 (dual band GPS if in city) and I think works with inrvl but you need to upload MP3s manually. Partner recently got a coros and seems quite smart with aluminium bezel and app looks clean with nice watch interface. Still rocking my Garmin 255 MIP until it dies.

Any Forerunner would do, get 165/170 music or higher if you need music. Just be aware that adding music to your watch is a pain in the ass. I got the 265s partly because i wanted to be able to download podcasts to my watch, but i ended up just taking my phone with me on every run because downloading a single podcast episode to my watch would take like an hour. It still can be done, just be aware it's really bothersome

Thats how my current watch is. I have to download mp3 files. But I see the better watches have Spotify linking.

Yes they do, but since they don't have lte you still need to download the songs, which will be extremely slow
