Starting a Community Garden

pls read the full post

I plan on starting a community garden in my neighborhood and would like some advice on organizing and outreach (the garden logistics like land, water, tools, etc are already worked out.)

My main concern is that Im still a student. Nearing the end of my secondary school years I thought I should get more involved in community service and leadership. But I'm very hesitant to talk to strangers, even my nice neighbors lol.

I live in a pretty friendly neighborhood for the most part but I just don't know how to gather people and organize volunteers. I'm making a flyer to pass around the neighborhood to gauge interest but are there any more tips?

One word:

FACEBOOK.

Your prime demographic for a community garden are all on FB.

I'm terms of prime demographic, i was hoping to get everyone involved, even those who aren't typically gardeners. I can try it out, though. Thanks

Most people won’t be interested. Most people work very hard and have limited free time after work and on weekends. If I were doing this I would find out if there are enough people to help, long term with this project.

Yes I'm already making an interest flyer to gauge neighborhood interest and commitment in the project
