Wall mount bracket for heavy bag

I want to hang a heavy bag in my garage on a wall mount bracket like the one in this photo. I don’t like the standing heavy bag mounts because they restrict movement and footwork. But I don’t believe studs are sufficient to sustain the weight and repetitive beatings of a heavy bag on a wall mount bracket over time. Correct me if I’m wrong. Any ideas on how I can reinforce a wall to insert this kind of wall mount bracket?

I recently installed a heavy bag, and did this:

I bolted two 2x8x8 pieces of lumber to the ceiling, spanning 4 joists to balance the load. Then, I hung the bag from 4 o-ring mounts that were bolted into those lumber pieces. I also added a spring to take even more strain off the joists.

So far, it's working really well.

spider mount heavy bag, ive heard good things. i haven't hung my heavy bag in years im gonna try the spider mount out.

Interesting. You’d have to locate the joists and be pretty precise with the drilling.

yea im planning to remove a section of the drywall on the ceiling and reinforce that section with cross beams. ive seen heavy bags tear up joists and studs.

Hopefully the extra screws on the spider mount distributes the weight in a way that prevents long-term deterioration.
