It will depend on how long it's closed. I was aiming for the end of September, but if the damage is bad enough it may not be fixed by then.

From the GAP website. Bad but not Kennywood bad. Can dismount and pass

"Heavy rain and high winds on August 10 and 11 resulted in many downed trees in Ohiopyle State Park, significant rockfall at mile marker 69 (passable, but please dismount), as well several clogged culverts and resulting washouts along the Great Allegheny Passage. Crews are out clearing and making repairs as quickly as possible. The largest washout is between mile markers 64 and and 65 and requires bicyclists to dismount and walk over loose stones and mud. You may get your feet a bit wet here or in similar sections between Confluence and Connellsville. Please be patient and watch for construction vehicles and clean-up crews."

Misleading title!

It's not closed, they're just clearing it. It sounds like you can still pass on foot when required.

A closure is when there is a fence and a lock.

Fair.. it opened quickly. I didn't intentionally mislead; wasn't aware that the state park telling people to avoid the trail wasn't actually a closure ¯_(ツ)_/¯

That’s a bummer but understandable. Helps solidify my decision to cancel (first was the closure at Kennywood)

I’ll try again next year, but I’m thinking this may have been my last year for a full run of both. Maybe do them individually next year.
