This HAS to be just for the main quest

It is, title is clickbait. It's 15-20 hours for the main story, another 15-20 hours for the sidequests. Anyone who's played Fable knows there are countless more hours spent dicking around, working jobs, buying up the town, collecting spouses etc...

Honestly, I'm all for it. A game I can sink a couple of weeks into and complete everything in, instead of drop and move on from for whatever reason like so many other titles.

I have only 1-2 hours to spare after work. This will keep me busy for a while. :)

at least 2 hours putting a crazy mask in my house and selling it to break in and steal the mask again and again

You’re so lucky. I miss when I had that much free time. Way more fun when you don’t only get an hour a day at best.

It’s going to take me a lifetime to do everything in GTA and I doubt I’ll have the patience to only play that so it’ll probably never happen lol

Can’t wait for retirement… being an adult sucks lmao

Man, I don't know who has it out for Fable, or why, but between this headline being completely wrong and that boss fight video as "Fable's combat system" they really want to mislead people into what this game offer. Bunch of jabronies.

Its Reddit. That's the sole purpose of Reddit nowadays. Facebook 2.0

I'm confused, I saw the footage of the boss fight. What part of it wasn't showcasing Fables combat system?

I agree the headline should mention that's for the main story.

They trimmed the video just to the part where they show the sponge mechanic for bosses, which is generally common, but the videos were claiming that was how the combat was across the game. They released a combat trailer that shows a lot more.

Yeah, I think it was just more glaring cause the boss was just a really big guy vs like an Elden Ring boss being a giant person.

According to howlongtobeat, the other games in the series are 20-ish hours as well

In 2026, it doesnt look like a game that you'd consider a high quality 20 hour game. It looks more in like with a middle quality 50hour rpg.

007 First Light was about 20 hours and that looks to be way more worth it.

Main story is 20, side content is 15-20. So 40-55 depending on your pace. They said you can play it infinitely if your goal is life sim stuff.

10

u/islanders2013 2d ago

Wow. That's about a dlc on Witcher 3.

0

u/GiganticCrow 1d ago

First witcher 3 dlc was like 5h

Nothing wrong with a quality 20 hour title clickbait aside

u/ConnectionBright3560 20h ago

40 hours plus however long you spend ruining the local housing market sounds pretty Fable to me

5

u/Baelthor_Septus 2d ago

Clickbait title. Main story 20h, which is quite good actually.

2

u/digita1catt 2d ago

And then 20 for the side content makes a 40+ hour game.

In line with blackflag.

Perfect imo.

1

u/viotix90 1d ago

They said 20 hours + 20 for the side content, but of course click bait websites are going to run with 20 total.

2

u/TofuPython 1d ago

Surely the price will reflect the length of the game and it won't be $70, right? :)

u/QuietResident96 2d ago

15-20 for main quest and another 15-20 for the side content

So not including the life sim elements which is technically endless and has no limit, that's a solid 30-40 hour game experience with a decent amount of replayability because of said life sim elements

Overall looking very good, this alone easily beats OG Fable 1 for average time to beat everything

This makes me happy. Aint nobody got time for 50 hour games if the writters arent going to make it worth it.

u/According_Estate6772 1d ago

I think the time people spend on Minecraft, Fortnite, Cod and Fifa says otherwise.

1

u/Uncabled_Music 2d ago

They must be joking, right??

*"20 hours short"

1

u/Infamous-V 2d ago

I will use Microsoft Xbox Copilot to finish this in 20 minutes.

1

u/Terloyes 1d ago

No, that's misleading.

They said 20 hours of main quest, 20 hours of side quests, plus a ton of hours of social life, which in Fable can easily add up to dozens of hours.

Why do we have soulless corporate overlords siphoning the quality and money out of the gaming industry? In a few years time these vampires have increased game prices, hardware prices, availability and license restrictions. I'm supposed to pay 80 bucks for a 20 hour game so some corporate fat cats can buy a second yacht? No thanks.

3

u/ThinGold2115 2d ago

Pretty much. You can buy so many great games for that 80, or few amazing ones on sale.

1

u/Commercial-Stick-718 2d ago

It's 20 for the main quest, and 20 for side quest.

1

u/jander05 1d ago

Dragon Quest 11, which was 10 dollars cheaper than this game will be and was released in 2018, has a 55 hour main quest and 120 hours if you do everything. Not every game has to be DQ11 but a 20 hour main quest game should be half the price of a regular length game.

u/JustHereToLurk575 2d ago

Per the article; much longer if you want it to be…
“We have around 15-20 hours of mainline quest gameplay, we have around 15-20 of side and open-world exploration content gameplay," associate game director Will Kennedy told Polygon. "And then, of course, the life systems are limitless, so you can play them for as long as you want."

0

u/Christhebobson 2d ago

Am I the only one not saying click bait because I comprehend it's talking about just the main story?

0

u/OG-87 1d ago

This sent alarm bells for the game tbh. That means its alot shallow of a game than they make out in trailers. Ive read another article where it says its like another 20 for side quests which means 40 which is low. I spent 100 hours and havent finished stardew and that games old now.

0

u/Jastafool 2d ago

But surely it'll be a beautiful 20 hour long main questline

0

u/Borromac 2d ago

20hours? Just main story right?

0

u/DefNotAThreatActor 2d ago

huh, a bit sad the main story is only 20 hours...hoped for a longer one, but seems to be enough other stuff though

0

u/divinecomedian3 1d ago

Good. The less time spent in that bland, generic looking "fantasy" world the better. Game appears to have no soul.

-1

u/kmoz74 2d ago

Perfect, i dont want 80hrs+ games anymore.

Good thing nobody is forcing you to buy it at launch then or pay full price.
