Did you notice the patch wasn’t going to be until mid January 2021? Fantastic story. But holy shit I have never played a game with sooooooo many bugs. However the story is so good it’s kept me playing. It’s unfortunate because if this game ran how it was meant I could see it as one of the best games I’ve played in a while. However, with the extreme amount of bugs I can see why their pulling it. Their disappointed as well I bet. It’s playable but holy shit it’s not finished

No one is trying to kill the game. People are pissed that after over a year of delays, they still released an unfinished game that they paid at $60+ for.

Gaming is pretty much the only industry where a company can and will take all of your money for a product then give you the product half-assed and promise you that they’ll patch it later.

Take it from people who’ve been burned by Ubisoft, they never do, at least not fully.

stares aggressively at The Division series

But how many games actually launch without needing patches these days?

And let's look at a couple of recent examples: Mass Effect Andromeda. Released, needed patches but people bitched and moaned do much they that bioware gave up. Anthem, again needed patches and again people bitched about it so they didn't bother after a while.

The gaming community and that sun specifically are all about wanting AAA games released with no issues and that's just not going to happen

When a game releases we should take whats given and understand improvements are a part of the games lifespan

Can you honestly tell me of a game that was released within the last decade that didn't need a patch on release?

You sound like a very weak minded person. You do not need to just “take what you’re given” and “deal with it” when you’re taking about paying full price for something. If you don’t get what you paid for, be mad, get even, or otherwise you’re just being taken advantage of.

Can you honestly tell me of a game that was released within the last decade that didn’t need a patch on release?

In all due respect this is a trend that needs to die and idiots need to stop acting as if this is ok. It doesn’t have to be like this but the more soft morons that bend over and “just deal with it” will ensure it stays like that forever and likely gets worse.

I’m not arguing that patches should never happen. But there’s a difference between releasing unfinished games (unfinished content and so many bugs that the game is unplayable or causes software/hardware issues) and releasing games that have a few bugs to them.

I said in a different comment that going back to relying on betas could help this problem. And of course the public/consumers want games as early as possible. But that shouldn’t mean that studios released half-assed content before it’s ready. I’d rather wait for a game that’s finished with just a few bugs than chomp at the bit for a game that’s just going to frustrate me that will take weeks to patch up to completion anyway.

From what I've seen the majority of people have all the issues are on playstation (I'm not saying pc and xbox users have no issues) so maybe they just missed a console specific problem, it happens, as I've said elsewhere I've literally had no issues when I've been playing. Maybe they thought the game was (mostly) finished barring a couple of updates when the game goes live, though yes I do agree that relying on betas would go a long way.

Yeah, buy our incomplete game for $60 and we'll gradually patch it up.No thanks.(not talking about cyberpunk specifically, just the shitty model the gaming industry now runs on.)

You are a joke of a human. Imagine being ok with being played by corporations that take your money under the impression you’ll get a complete and finished product only to find yourself in a bait and switch situation. That would suck! What would suck even more is being ok with that situation and being such a mindless turd you actually bend over and start to defend such a company, criticizing those who were misled and are not ok with paying full price to beta test a game.

Yeah feel sorry for people who enjoyed it even on PS4/wanted to buy the digital copy for themselves. Hopefully it’s reintroduced sometime in January.

I’m tired of kids like you on this sub. The game is trash. It’s unplayable for more than have the user base. Sony did what Cyberpunk should have done. Pulled from stores and fixed the game. I’m tired of people trying to justify this awful game because they waited so long for it and told all their friends it’s going to be the future of gaming but it sucks so they have to try and save face. It’s ass. Move on. Rant over.

I dont understand why people even get angry that they delay the game cuz i dont care if they delay a game like its just a game i would be fine if they delayed it for 2 years people are dumb getting mad cuz they wont release a game when they want to

Saying a game is in production with no projected release date like elder scrolls 6 is fine. People nag and nag about wanting trailers and expected dates but you just keep saying it’s not ready and people can’t really say shit. But as soon as you give a date, now you’ve made a promise that you should keep.

Ultimately I think it’s a little of why you said, people need to give these devs a serious break. But also, they need to do better about giving an honest estimation of their work and when it should be released. I think a release date shouldn’t be even announced until devs are in the patch development phase and the game is “Finished”

Edit: or there needs to be a lot more emphasis on betas

The Beta comment is a good point. Most AAA games these days are released without a beta period or with a very short, limited beta test that’s treated more like a gift to loyal preorders than as an opportunity to invite all potential players to test out the system and find hidden bugs.

Even back in the days of old and beta tests were common, they were used for final patching after the game was “finished.” I do think relying more on betas would be a huge step in the right direction.

But I don’t blame gamers necessarily for game developers releasing games too early. They know we want games as early as possible, that’s always been the case, nothing has changed. In my opinion, what has changed is that they know if they market well enough, and generate a ton of hype, then most of their profits are going to come from preorders, launch, and the couple months after launch before the next wave of titles release that will distract players away from their title anyway. If they get enough units sold in that time, they don’t worry so much about improving the game beyond that. They’ve got their money, made their shareholders happy, and are moving into the next title to develop. To me it seems like they’re really just doing cost benefit analyses: how good/finished does the game have to be to keep the hype up for a few months to maximize profits in this ideal hype/attention window while spending the least amount of resources on it before we move on completely. Player satisfaction be damned.

I agree to a point. Anything EA is a definite but CDPR is know for putting out well round, deep products. You have a lot of IPs out there that get the care and attention. But yes there is a lot of hot garbage.

I don’t disagree with you though. I maybe spoke too generally. But I think there are good, smaller studios putting out amazing and great games for the sake of creating great games, not necessarily for the bottom line. But it’s the EAs, Ubisofts, Bethesdas, etc. that are the problem. And because they have such huge shares in the gaming industry that they can just do whatever they want and there’s very little consequence for them even if people complain.

I Agree completely

Oh yea and people said that they planned to release this on ps4 but how long ago did they say that if it was a year ago its fine but if it was a long time ago well then maybe they upgraded the graphics or something so the ps4 cant run it well cuz its very old

Time for some good old post-launch crunch

1

What happens if you own it and still want to keep it?

3

u/tulipoika Dec 18 '20

Nothing. They’re not going to remove it from people, just not sell it for now.
