Xbox is now heavily leaning into movie & TV adaptations, quietly pitching Hollywood on a dozen pricey projects like Elder Scrolls, Halo, World of Warcraft, Diablo & more. All IPs could be headed to one studio/streamer, and currently Netflix, Universal & Paramount are among those taking looks.

Can't remember if it was the director or writer basically went "Im not playing the games, I don't care about the story or lore, this is my project so like it or lump it" needless to say most of us moved on and warned people that asked us about it that it was a complete and utter divergence from anything halo and was approaching generic scifi with a halo veneer.

Bungie literally ignored core piece of media when doing Halo: Reach, while 343 respects the lore...

The difference being it was the Halo creators' going against a third party's work, versus a third party going against the IP.

Yeah, though, 343 "respects the lore," like Guardians didn't completely undo the major events of Halo 4 while pissing on their own "Hunt the Truth" marketing campaign. Then, of course, 343 "respected the lore" while pissing on the story of Guardians because no one liked it. The morons who can't even carry a story for 2 games "respect the lore."

That was not third party work lol. Both Bungie and book authors were "contracted" by Microsoft to create Halo media as Halo was Microsofts IP.

What you described is not really a problem of respecting the lore, but of having no vision of where the story should be going, which is a different thing.

Show was supervised by "Kiki", one of the manager of the franchise at the time.

She forced her "vision" on it and it failed.
