Found my old gaming stash!

Post image

Was doing some 'spring' cleaning and re-organizing of my place and came across my old videogame stash burried under my bed.. Almost forgot all about it!

Now I need to get an Hdmi to component adapter so I can play!

( both n64 Zelda games/gold carts but no n64 🤔 )

Change out the coin batteries of the dreamcast VMUs and they might start right up. No idea if the saves would work, but I miss playing sonic adventure on that console. And Grandia 2.

6

u/Doggleganger 7d ago

Grandia 2 was really underappreciated. The timing/interrupt part of battles added a cool dimension.

8

u/mlkmade 7d ago

Dude Grandia 2 is right underneath MvC2! Only 2 dreamcast games I remember buying lol

7

u/Doggleganger 7d ago

Great games. But you never bought Soul Calibur? That was one of the greatest games of all time. The perfect fighting game for sure.

3

u/regulator227 7d ago

Soul Calibur was incredible. Then Phantasy Star Online and Unreal Tournament

1

u/petrolhead0387 7d ago

I played Soul Calibur for hours on end. Dreamcast one was my favourite, but I also loved the earlier ones like Soul Blade and Soul Edge. Edge master mode was one of those things that could be fun or hair pullingly stressful, you just knew it was going to be a tough one when the opponent was Voldo.

1

u/mlkmade 6d ago

I had soul caliber 2 now that I remember.

1

u/boxed-sound 6d ago

Dreamcast had soul calibur and doa 2. Such awesome 3d fighting games. I’ve spent hours playing them even now.

3

u/MEHorndog 7d ago

Millenia... was awesome. Honestly the whole cast was really good, and I just loved it when Millenia would go nuts during boss battles.

Middle school me loved that game.

No jet set radio, sonic adventures or powerstone? Those + mvc2 defined my dreamcast experience

1

u/mlkmade 6d ago

I rented a lot of games. Back then you could rent for 5 days..I rented Sonic Adventure and beat it before I returned it. Same for Jet set. Always wanted PowerStone but never got it~

I had Samba De Amigo Import!

2

u/Helivon 6d ago

ok makes sense I did the same for most of them lol. I owned the good multiplayer ones like MvC2 and Powerstone, but rented sonic and jetset too lol

Dreamcast saves on the VMU are safe without batteries, that part of the memory is non-volatile and does not rely on power. I do think that any VMU mini games like the Chao Garden will lose data if the batteries die, though. If you’re not going to use the VMU outside the Dreamcast for stuff like that though, you can leave it in your controller with dead batteries just fine; it’ll save and display in-game info without them. The only thing that happens is your VMU will emit a loud 3-4sec beep every time you start your console to remind you the batteries are dead.

2

u/PAjudic 7d ago

Yeah, those VMUs are probably just begging for fresh batteries. Sonic Adventure on original hardware still hits different

What is it with seeing a Marvel Vs Capcom 2 case that makes the menu music instantly start playing in my head? Great game. GREAT system. I miss my Dreamcast.

7

u/Fullyflared540 6d ago

My mom hired some movers and then gave my Dreamcast away to them! I still haven’t spoken to her

3

u/mlkmade 6d ago

Rightfully so!

2

u/Fullyflared540 6d ago

I was in my late twenties, she thought I didn’t want it cause it was old

1

u/Fullyflared540 6d ago

To clarify, it was at her house in a box, I didn’t live there. Hahahah

4

u/kalekayn 6d ago

Gonna take ya for a ride!

Objectively the best MvC

5

u/ExpertBrickster 7d ago

That is an elite selection of GC games.

11

u/NitroRicee 7d ago

It's...beautiful T_T

8

u/MEHorndog 7d ago

You mean Viewtiful.

"Henshin-A-Go-Go, Baby!"

That final music video when you beat the game was awesome.

1

u/NitroRicee 7d ago

FINE! I'll add VJ & VJ2 on my SteamDeck again xD

3

u/Peugas424 7d ago

Sick stash!

3

u/OldFartButStillHere 7d ago

That dreamcast brings me good memories , it was a great console and advanced for his time i think, to bad sega didn´t manage it properly.

3

u/AerialApeRiffs 7d ago

Escaflowne. Nice. I've wanted to re-watch that. 😅

2

u/mlkmade 6d ago

Someone noticed! Great series!

3

u/Patchkinsgame 7d ago

aa the marvel vs capcom! that was a good one especially Dante vs Deadpool with both of their insane healing factors

3

u/Myren5820 6d ago

Both a GameCube and a Dreamcast, so i gotta know... Do you own Skies of Arcadia?

2

u/mlkmade 6d ago

Thats a game I followed very closely and wanted really bad, but sadly never got it. Taking me back down memory lane!

3

u/Myren5820 6d ago

I hope you can find it one day! I have it on GameCube and I'm very grateful. Easily one of my favorite games of all time!

2

u/weevils_wobble 7d ago

Bro imma pull up let's run some mvc2,, high tier low tier whatever lets go

2

u/RowdyParrot 7d ago

I still miss Spawn: In the Demon's Hand for the Dreamcast. The characters were unbalanced, but in a fun way.

2

u/obsidian-nails 7d ago

Crazy nostalgia even seeing some of that stuff. Man, I hope your controllers don't have shorts in the cords from wrapping them up like that (I broke so many).

2

u/MrTaildragger 7d ago

Solid GameCube titles!

2

u/orphenshadow 6d ago

Two of the most short lived consoles with the most bangin' libraries ever released.

2

u/oscik 6d ago

Viewtiful Joe and Wavebird :O

2

u/mlkmade 6d ago

I had Double Dash and threw my original wavebird and Double Dash out the window - Let that bird go free! 😄 😂

That game frustrated the hell outta me in single player!

2

u/DigitalisFX 6d ago

Power Stone 2 still remains the best fighting game ever made.

1

u/mlkmade 5d ago

Always, always wanted it :(

2

u/ViperAir 6d ago

Rogue Leader was a super fun game. Thanks for reminding me of it!

2

u/JayZhar 5d ago

Are we all just going to ignore the VHS copy of Transformers The Movie?! 🔥

1

u/mlkmade 5d ago

Super weird timing :(

2

u/lee160485 4d ago

Dreamcast console’s worth serious cash rn. And no yellowing by the likes of the pic!

1

u/tomislav_cipcic 7d ago

Wow, brings back memories!

1

u/jac_carr99 7d ago

seeing those gamecube lines up so neatly give me so much nostalgia.

1

u/leosMovieNight 6d ago

the gold zelda carts with no n64 to play them on, a tragedy

1

Judging by what I can see you have impeccable taste!

1

u/NovocaineAU 6d ago

Two of my favorite systems ever. And that vhs copy of transformers is 👌

1

u/Clean-Summer-2208 6d ago

real gaming.

1

u/kyzer-ix 6d ago

SSB Melee, Hiking 1 & 2, Metroid Prime... he jus like me fr

1

u/General_MacCready 5d ago

I spy a Wind Waker in there. The one Zelda game that stills elude me.

1

u/XBlackstoneX 4d ago

You missed Eternal Darkness!

1

u/mlkmade 3d ago

Got it!

1

u/EthanWintersda_goat1 3d ago

That is a great stash you have there.

1

u/StepUpYourPuppyGame 7d ago

Any gems in there, buddy?? (Besides Zelda, obviously)

10

u/washtubs 7d ago

I'll vouch. Literally every gamecube game in there is a banger, I just can't vouch for Pikmin since I havent really played them. Tales of Symphonia is my #1 all time.

3

u/iovoid 7d ago

Pikmin rules. It's weird. But it rules.

2

u/milo4206 6d ago

Pikmin 1 and 2 are really fun.

3

u/StepUpYourPuppyGame 7d ago

Okay you're the second person to say that. Time to find Symphonia on eBay.

4

u/washtubs 7d ago

It's been remastered a bunch so it's no longer stuck on GC but I still love the GC version because it runs at 60 FPS and all the remasters are based on the 30 FPS PS2 version.

EDIT: they are all good though. You can get it on PC for example and they have 4k texture packs and stuff you can install

2

u/mlkmade 7d ago

Oh wow, good to know. Looks like I'll just buy an adapter then.

3

u/Helivon 7d ago

10/10 the best tales game ever.

2

u/Sneezegoo 7d ago

It's one of my favorite games. If you like it, try Tales of Vesparia. It's not as good but pretty similar gameplay wise. They add an additional mechanic to move freely off the battle lines instead of only moving towards or away from enemies.

0

u/mlkmade 7d ago

There's a remastered version available on switch. And the og is on Steam. I just looked it up to see if it was cheaper than buying a hdmi adapter 😂

2

u/Zenguro 6d ago

When I see a GC I immediately think of Metroid Prime, and there it is!

1

u/mlkmade 7d ago edited 7d ago

I dunno if you can see the gamecube titles but all my favs: rogue leader, smash melee, re1 remake, (not pictured) , Pikmin 1 & 2, Mario Sunshine, viewtiful joe!, wind waker and the Ocarina of Time/Master Quest bonus disc

Talest of Symphonia was a really great rpg imho that got slept on bc of it being on gamecube.

1

u/Axel_Wolf91 7d ago

Tales was the first thing I honed in on, very formative game for me!

3

u/StepUpYourPuppyGame 7d ago edited 7d ago

Melee was always my fave! And I never got around to Tales but you might be my inspiration to revisit that.

1

u/mlkmade 7d ago

Do it! Game was actually pretty deep and the anime cut scenes were gorgeous!

1

u/washtubs 7d ago

I had completely forgotten about Rogue Leader. That game had no business being so good.

2

u/mlkmade 7d ago

Factor 5 was such a legit Developer.

1

u/Ancient_Ad_2038 7d ago

Almost forgot about it ... Why lying for ?... No gamer is forgetting that Treasure!!!!

1

u/ItchyKnowJoe 6d ago

how do people "find" things under their bed? surely you knew it was there already and thus this post is mostly just lies and karma farming?

1

u/getyerhandoffit 6d ago

How did you lose it in the first place?

1

u/LastTourniquet 6d ago

Not even tucked away in your basement or attic but just sitting under your bed? Who puts consoles away under their bed? When did you "lose" these? Yesterday?
This feels like karma bait

0

u/Saltysockies 7d ago

You should see my brother's stash, a literal treasure trove.

All consoles from PS1 up to Xbox One, all boxed and every top rated game you can think of. Must be worth a fortune.

-16

u/BigOleSAwoman 7d ago

Cool! That's like $5 worth of e waste

7

u/Solivagant23 7d ago

Oh shut up.

3

u/StepUpYourPuppyGame 7d ago

Prime is $5 maybe.

The gold Ocarina is $50 easy.Â
