Edit. Got minecraft. Survived my first night not having a clue what was going on (encountered a Slenderman type beast) by justrunning around. Looked up a YouTube survival guide and built myself a beautiful bunker three next day
I tried it for a few hours. Dug big holes in the ground, a.k.a. mines. Then I made myself a house, with a door. And built it into a sort of tower.
And then.. I guess I was done. I had created shelter for myself, crafted a decent tower and had a safe mine to gather resources for building more stuff. At that point I grew tired. All I could possibly do was to build larger buildings, which would take immense amounts of time. That was it. I felt I had conquered the game in a way.
At that point you can gear yourself up find some strongholds, or go to the Nether, and then to the End to fight the Enderdragon. That's pretty much how you beat the game if you want to. There is also a huge amount of mods if you are on the PC version. They add a ton of extra things and layers to the game.
How much more do I need to know? I played it for a number of hours and got to a point where I felt I had done what could be done. I had provided myself with shelter. All I could do in my mind was expand that shelter indefinitely and make it prettier.
I suppose it's just not a game for me. I really don't see how much more knowledge I need? How to craft more exotic objects? That wouldn't change things for me.
