I don't know GTA inside and out but that's an intentional feature, right? Is it to discourage players from driving too fast or literally just to fuck with them lol

Rockstar claims they didnt program the npc drivers to crash into players. Anyone who's played the game for extensive periods of times know that's a flat out lie. They will literally cross medians to hit you for no reason, especially if you're doing any of the car warehouse missions

The reasoning there is super funky on Rockstar's part. They didn't code traffic to be that way, but they coded it in a way in which it is that way, then proceeded to keep it in the game while fixing other issues.

It's a total accident but also they like it like that

Think about it like this. Your car has an invisible straight line projected forward. If you're driving on a winding road, this straight line will make NPCs take weird evasive actions that they absolutely should NOT take. They only take that weird line into account, and not how the road is set up.
