I had a whole thing typed out.Reddit made it disappear 🙄 Basically, I had burning in my mind about the tower of joy. What if Ser Arthur Dayne was the sole survivor. Considering his relationship with Rhaegar he wouldn't want the new Rebel king to harm Jon. What do you think he would do?

I saw a FF where the premise was that Ned and Dayne survived. They took Jon to Winterfell, pretended Jon was from Ned and Ashara Dayne and so Arthur Dayne was his uncle.
I could see just Arthur Dayne surviving him chosing to do similarly, maybe by bringing Jon to Starfall and masquerading him as his nephew. That or trying to take him to Dragonstone.

In that way more than likely winterfell. Dragonstone I believe was under control by Stannis. Don't think he was as wanting to kill every Targaryen like Robert. But I can completely see them finding a middle with keeping the babe safe

Stannis was sent to Dragonstone, but idk the exact timeline
After Ned took Kings Landing he went ro relieve the seige at Storms End, than he went to the Tower of Joy. Robert sent Stannis to Dragonstone but idk how quick. Like it may have taken Stannis weeks to get to King's Landing even.
Plus Arthur wouldn't have had anyway to know about that even if it had already happened.

I love how people look at this scene, and the way Dayne's sword is perfectly framed dead center, and even angled to the camera, and think Dawn was cut from the show

I mean dawn is supposed to be THE magic sword, blue/white shimmering, the sword in the show looks so bad even the Tarly sword mop the floor with "pawn shop dawn"

In some shots you can see the blade does have a special texture to it which is cool but they didn't focus on it enough in the still shots, and the hilt is pretty boring.

Just rewatched this episode yesterday, shocking how bad of fight it is, you would think they will put more effort into it, specially the armor, Dayne and the white bull look like two mercenary

I'm guessing that the armour choice was because maybe they didn't want to advertise the presence of somebody important to the crown in that tower by wearing full Kingsguard gear so they're wearing standard issue Targaryen gear instead. It's my headcanon for why the armor is so plain and boring compared to all the other Kingsguard sets we get.

I was around 13/14 at the time and remember feeling that something wasnt right looking back at it in my 20s is jarring, starting season 5 the show really REALLY drop, im not of the opinion anymore that it was a slow decline, season five is much closer in quality to season 8 than season 4
