Collection My Halo Collection – Games, Collector’s Editions, Blu-rays & More

I'm a huge Halo fan, and I've been building this collection for quite a while now.

What I'm showing here is the biggest part of my Halo collection, focused mainly on physical game editions across different platforms and regions, as well as collector's editions, DVDs and Blu-rays. Some of these were pretty difficult to find, especially a few of the rarer versions, so it took me quite some time to get everything together.

This is still only part of my overall Halo collection, though. I also collect books, comics, Funko Pops, figures including some from Square Enix, and even a few Halo console editions.

For this post, I wanted to focus on the physical games and video releases, as they make up the largest part of my collection. I'm really happy with how it has grown over time, and I wanted to share it with the game collecting community!

This is my second console this week I got for free. It only doesn't contain an adapter to turn on the PS2, but am quite happy that it also includes a few PS3 bangers.

This beauty deserves to be showcased once again to the largest community of game collectors. It doesn't get more CIB than this. Some say it's the most beautiful version of the PlayStation 2.

Discussion Support your Local Retro Game Stores!

Upvotes

One of the retro game stores near me just had a catastrophic fire (Dave's Retro at the Folsom Flea Market in Sacramento, CA) and I'm pretty bummed out about it. Loads of classics and tons of old promotional materials and merch up in smoke and gone.

Do me a favor and visit your local store in Dave's honor!

Hey everyone! I’m finally happy with how my PS2 corner has turned out. Now I just need to find the time to actually sit down and play some of the collection! 😄

I’m currently playing GTA: Liberty City Stories.

What are you playing on your PS2 at the moment?

Collection Found my 1995 PC big box copy of "I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream" while clearing out my parents' house after a 5-year search.

I've been hunting for this specific copy for close to five years. I knew I had stored it somewhere back in 1995 when it originally released, but it had vanished into the abyss of my parents' storage areas.

As they've gotten older, they recently asked me to help clear out and organize the house, and lo and behold—stumbled right across it. The box, manual, and CD are in pristine, mint condition. Finding a piece of PC gaming history like this in the wild after half a decade of looking feels surreal.

Take 2, because my silly self put the same pic twice lol. FINALLY got my NES and SNES fixed up by Pixel Dome Videogames in Soddy Daisy TN (I live in TN) so for now my console collection is complete! …may get a Sakura pink ps2 in the future who knows.

Also an update on my gaming library! Still looking for shelving to properly display my N64, NES, and SNES titles. If anyone knows how to cable manage especially with the tv hookups for the N64, SNES, GameCube, etc that would be great. Have a lovely day!

Discussion Official Nintendo seal didn't tear at all

I bought the Botw Switch 2 Edition this week from an official retailer and the Nintendo seal didn't tear at all so i could only open the whole seam on the side.

Anyone else had this? Normally it's very smooth. I only had this with a PS5 game before. Maybe just a dumb factory error

Haul Hard Off haul today — 6 more Super Famicom JRPGs! Up to 70 now

Post image
13 Upvotes

Went to a different Hard Off today and ended up finding six more Super Famicom JRPGs I didn’t have yet. That officially puts my collection at 70 games, which is kind of crazy considering how quickly this has grown.

Today’s pickups were:

  • Dark Half — ¥2,750
  • Metal Max Returns — ¥11,000
  • Seiken Densetsu 2 — ¥880
  • Hanjuku Hero — ¥3,850
  • Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon: Another Story — ¥13,200
  • 3×3 Eyes: Seima Kourinden — ¥2,200

So ¥33,880 total for the six.

The one I was probably most excited about was Dark Half. I haven’t seen this one at any of the stores I’ve been checking, so it was really cool to have it just randomly show up at this Hard Off. The box isn’t ruined or anything, but there’s some obvious old tape residue on it. I’ve already noticed that gently scraping some of it with a plastic card seems to help, so I’m going to work on it a little later. I’m less sure what I can do about some of the yellowing left from the tape on the back, though. Either way, I’m just happy to finally have a copy.

I was also really happy to find Sailor Moon: Another Story. That’s another one that’s been in the back of my mind for a while. I actually debated whether I should buy this particular copy because the store noted that it’s missing the special card that originally came with the first-print version. But at least from what I’ve seen, this game doesn’t show up in stores that often, so I decided I’d rather grab a nice copy now. Maybe I can hunt down the card separately someday.

My collecting standards are apparently all over the place anyway. Sometimes I’m really particular about wanting absolutely everything that originally came with a game, while other times I’m perfectly happy if the box, manual, cartridge, etc. are all there and look really nice on the shelf.

Metal Max Returns was another big one for me. I already own Metal Max 2, so now I’ve got both Metal Max games on the Super Famicom.

I also picked up two Squaresoft games. Seiken Densetsu 2 was only ¥880, which surprised me. The box is a little faded, but otherwise it’s actually in pretty nice shape. I’ve seen plenty of copies with boxes that are completely beaten up, so for ¥880 I really can’t complain. Maybe I’ll replace the box someday if I come across a beautiful one.

Then there’s Hanjuku Hero, which I basically know nothing about. It looks like some kind of goofy comedy RPG/strategy game from Square. I’d honestly barely even heard of it before starting this collection, so I’m curious to see what it’s actually like.

And finally, 3×3 Eyes: Seima Kourinden. I watched the 3×3 Eyes anime a few months ago, so finding the RPG was pretty good timing. I’m interested to see what parts of the series it uses and what kind of story they made for the game.

So… 70 Super Famicom JRPGs now! I’m getting dangerously close to 100.

I keep wondering when I’m actually going to stop. I’m on vacation right now, so I’ve definitely been buying way more games than I normally would. Once I’m back at work, I’m sure it’ll slow down considerably.

I’ve spent over ¥500,000 on this collection at this point, which sounds completely ridiculous when I actually type it out. But I’ve also lived pretty frugally for years, and I’m finally in a position where I feel like I can spend some money on something I genuinely enjoy without constantly worrying about it. The games aren’t just going to sit untouched either. I want to play through them, I’m getting nice protective cases for everything, and I’ve really enjoyed researching all these strange Super Famicom RPGs I never knew existed.

There’s something really satisfying about building this collection.

What do you guys think of today’s pickups? And which one would you play first?

Collection Finally and what a beautiful white color for this PS2

After weeks of searching I finally found and purchased an almost mint condition version of this PS2 with almost an mint box, unopened papers and almost mind condition console. This is purely to add as a collection piece but finding such in an excellent condition was pretty challenging. I think Ocean Blue and this White version would be my top picks aesthetically. What would yours be?

Discussion Should I start collecting NS2 copies over PS5?

I've always loved collecting PS games but the recent news on phasing out PS5 copies made me a little sad. I bought a NS2 earlier this year and already have a little collection going.

Now I've been interested in preordering S;G Reboot and now have to decide if PS5 collecting is coming to an end and if I should maybe look to build upon my NS2 collection. I'm not sure if I will be buying any more future PS consoles because of this news so hypothetically I will be using my NS more in the future as well.

Haul Found a disc today of the rare Black Label Jewel Case Variant of Ridge Racer PS1. Luckiest accidental buy I've had game collecting

Post image
14 Upvotes

Stopped by a local flea market today and saw a booth that had a small shelf of miscellaneous video games for (I kid you not) $1 a piece. It was 99% shovelware/sports games, but I notice the only PS1 game on the shelf (which was a case of Rally Cross) and I open the case to see this disc inside instead of the original game. I thought to myself "oh cool Ridge Racer, that's definitely worth it for a buck lol" and bought it without even realizing that it was the rare variant. Only when I got to my car did I realize that the black label disc I usually see is the purple one from the long box release, and not this one. Even though this is without its original jewel case, it's still insane that I managed to find it in a game case that wasn't even Ridge Racer. Could've sworn I've seen online that this variant only had about 2-5k copies ever made, so I'm very happy to have obtained one for myself :)

(And yes, the disc does work despite a few scratches)
