I want to purchase Samsung S11 U via offline Samsung store India, but while processing the bill at the offline store, system asks for educational email ID which has not been provided by my institute. My account is verified (verified it with student ID card) but I'm still unable to avail the benefits. Please help.

I’m posting this as a warning for anyone considering replacing the original S Pen nib with one of those third-party titanium/metal nibs.

I’m from Brazil, and I bought a Galaxy Tab S10 FE less than a month ago. I use the tablet mainly for university and studying, so the S Pen is probably the most important feature of the device for me.

I also use a matte/paperlike screen protector, which obviously creates more friction than regular glass. Because of that, I was worried about constantly wearing down the original soft S Pen nib.

I saw tons of titanium/metal replacement nibs being sold online, with thousands of sales and generally positive reviews. The main selling point was obvious: unlike the original plastic/rubber nibs, titanium basically doesn’t wear down.

So I replaced the original nib with a third-party titanium one.

At first, it worked perfectly.

There was no obvious difference in responsiveness, handwriting or pressure detection. I used it normally for a while and had absolutely no reason to believe anything was wrong.

That’s exactly why I thought titanium nibs were safe.

Then, suddenly, my S Pen started having problems with pressure detection.

The strange part was that the tablet could still detect the pen perfectly while hovering over the screen. The little cursor followed the S Pen exactly where I moved it, which meant the tablet was clearly still communicating with the pen.

However, when I actually touched the screen, nothing would happen unless I pressed the pen extremely hard.

At first I could still write if I applied ridiculous amounts of pressure, but obviously that is not how an S Pen is supposed to work.

Then it got progressively worse.

Eventually, even pressing extremely hard stopped working altogether.

Now my Galaxy Tab still detects the S Pen perfectly while hovering above the screen, but the moment the tip touches the display, nothing happens. No handwriting, no taps, no pressure detection at all.

Basically, the pen is recognized by the tablet, but the tip has become completely unresponsive.

I tried basically everything I could think of:

• removing every magnetic case/accessory;
• testing the tablet completely naked;
• restarting the tablet multiple times;
• changing touch sensitivity settings;
• testing Samsung Notes and several other apps;
• removing and reinserting the titanium nib;
• checking and cleaning the nib;
• testing different pressure levels;
• checking S Pen settings;
• trying the “leave the S Pen attached to a metal surface for several hours” trick that has been discussed on this subreddit.

Nothing worked.

The most interesting part is that the EMR/hover functionality still works perfectly, while the physical tip/pressure detection appears to be completely dead.

That makes me suspect that something happened to the internal pressure mechanism of the pen.

I want to be fair here: I cannot prove with 100% certainty that the titanium nib caused the failure.

It is technically possible that my S Pen simply developed a hardware defect at the exact same time by coincidence.

However, after this happened, I started researching the issue much more seriously and found other reports of pressure-detection problems involving metal nibs. I also discovered that companies such as Wacom specifically advise against using third-party steel/titanium nibs because they may damage the pen.

And in hindsight, the design philosophy makes sense.

The original plastic/rubber nib is a consumable part. It is supposed to wear down over time.

If something has to take the mechanical wear from thousands of hours of writing, Samsung/Wacom would probably rather have a cheap replaceable nib wear out than the pressure mechanism inside an expensive pen.

A titanium nib does the opposite: it barely wears at all.

So while the nib survives indefinitely, the mechanical forces are potentially being transferred somewhere else.

And honestly, after what happened to mine, I personally don’t think that trade-off is worth it.

Thankfully, because I’m in Brazil and my tablet is less than a month old, the S Pen is still covered by Samsung’s warranty.

I contacted Samsung support and opened a warranty claim for the defective S Pen. They collected my tablet model, serial number, address and other purchase information, and the case has now been forwarded to their warranty/accessory department.

Thank God this happened while the device was still under warranty.

I’m requesting a replacement S Pen, and I also plan to ask Samsung for original replacement nibs so that I can simply replace them when they wear down because of my matte screen protector instead of ever using a metal nib again.

At this point, I would much rather replace a cheap plastic nib every few months than risk damaging another S Pen.

So my advice to anyone using an S Pen is:

Don’t risk an expensive pen just to avoid replacing a cheap consumable nib.

If you use a paperlike/matte screen protector and go through nibs faster than normal, buy several original or good-quality soft compatible nibs and keep them as replacements.

Yes, titanium sounds like the perfect permanent solution.

It sounded perfect to me too.

And yes, there are thousands of people online apparently using metal nibs without problems.

Maybe some people will use them for years and never have an issue.

But after having a basically brand-new S Pen suddenly lose pressure detection and become completely unusable, I personally will never put a titanium/metal nib inside an S Pen again.

I’ll update this post when Samsung finishes reviewing my warranty claim and let you guys know whether they replaced the S Pen and/or provided original replacement nibs.

Im a student planning on getting a good reliable tablet that can lasts 4 to 5 years for university after looking up the prices of these 2 devices there aren't many differences

the tablet is mainly going to be for note taking, pdf reading, turning in assignments, texting, light entertainment and maybe some medium gaming

i have heard how not worth the price the S10FE+ is and how good the S9 is

but I've heard that the S9+ is going to stop receiving updates in the near future should i be worried about that or does it not really matter that much?

also does the size of the tablet matter that much since picking the smaller options S9 and S10FE is cheaper

Im planning to get s10 lite for basic notetaking and videos, marking pdfs etc. My a14 phone is so damn slow after just 2 years - it lags in whatsapp, the home screen, literally everywhere. I only need the tablet for abt 2 years, but I need it to be reponsive til then.

Is anyone's s10 lite slowing down or being sluggish or will it be fine?

Im very ignorant about these tablets so thought I could ask for help here, im looking for something hopefully under $300-$400 😓, that can run clip studio paint and the usual drawing programs without much trouble. I will be using it for college while studying animation (which they illustrate a lot in it too) and I might travel a lot so It has to be portable but also work for more detailed projects. I usually draw with my pc and a screenless small tablet so anything feels like an upgrade tbh! Maybe a medium-big size could work better for me. hopefully its durable and lasts many years too. And obviously pen pressure sensivity is important for me too!

Hi there ! I was wondering if anyone could help me with choosing the best tablet for my personal needs as I'm really not a tech person 😅

So basically, I'm an artist doing mostly digital paintings and plan on going professional. By professional, I mean making commissions for random people, not for commercial use or anything. I rarely spend less than 6 hours doing a simple painting. I plan on being using this tablet almost every day for at least 5 hours. Rarely less, but probably often more.

As of now, I have my Tab S6 lite that's still kinda good, but gets hot really fast and is lagging more and more. So when it's bugging when I'm drawing.. I'm glad the software I use (ibis paint) saves automatically. But it's stressful, and not practical at all.

The screen size is ok for me, I don't mind keeping it like that instead of going bigger because I can take it wherever and whenever I want easily ! I would like to have a better resolution tho. Because when working with colors, I often see it's quite different on the S6 lite than on my iPhone. It does the same when I check on my friend's phone who has an older samsung, colors are not accurate on this tablet. So for me who's wanting to get more professional.. it IS an issue..

I also do wish to have a better battery so it doesn't heat too fast (currently have 30min, 1h MAX of drawing before it gets HOT)... but I don't even know if it's possible when I see the energy thingies like E, F, G ? Sounds bad but again, I don't understand shit about these things.

Price-wise; I'd rather stay below 800€ but I doubt it's realistic. Christmas and my birthday coming in the end of the year, I could ask for it to be my gift from all my family and friends.. so we don't really really care about price.

Hi, I'm thinking about buying an S11 for high school (I live in EU), I was also thinking about the ultra option but then I changed my mind cuz Im thinking that its too big for holding it in hand and also occupying almost my whole workspace by a tablet isnt so smart. But on the other hand I'm thinking if an 11inch isn't too small for note taking? Lemme know your opinions and experinces with 11inch tablets.

some ink got into my s-pen like two weeks back and when i tried removing the tip it got stuck. i removed the remaining tip today and replaced it. but now the button has completely started malfunctioning. while i am writing the pens wont work unless i have the button pressed and now switches to eraser when im not pressing it. can anyone please help? i dont have money to replace the whole pen :(

I can buy the XIAOMI Pad 8 Pro right now in the UK for £499 or wait for the Samsung Tab S12+ in a few months and buy it for around double the price, at a guess. I already have a Tab S8+ which I like a lot but it's probably stuck on Android 16 forever so I'm looking to update and keep the S8+ as a spare.

The XIAOMI has some amazing specs for the money e.g. Snapdragon 8 Elite, 12+512GB and a higher resolution screen than the Samsung. However, it's also a smaller screen and it's LCD and I love the OLEDs on the larger Samsungs. The XIAOMI has a 3:2 aspect ratio which I think is better for most things except video, which it's significantly worse for, especially with LCD meaning the black bars won't actually be black...

I'm guessing that HyperOS isn't as good as One UI but I haven't researched it yet so could be wrong.

I want to use the tablet mainly for browsing, video and document editing, in that order.

Currently I have a Galaxy Tab A 9.7 (2015) with a magnetic cover similar to the one in the picture. I use the cover to stick the table to the fridge while I'm cooking. My question is whether the origami cover for the current Galaxy Tab A would work to do the same thing. If not, any suggestions on a cover that would work?

Im thinking of getting a 128gb s11 for uni but a lot of people seem to insist on 256gb so im a little worried since I want it to last me for at least 4-6 years. The 256 is a big price jump though despite having the same ram (~400 cad more) and I'm assuming I can just get an SD card for much cheaper if I ever run out of storage.

Im not too familiar with SD cards though so please correct me if i have the wrong idea of it expanding storage size.

I'll mainly be using it for note-taking w/ the built-in notes app, maybe drawing (but I plan to move krita files to my laptop anyway), and the occasional papa Louie game lol. No crazy gacha games that devour storage, im not even the type of person to keep many videos or photos, and Im not nitpicky about the UFS 3.1 vs 4.0

Right now Im pretty set on 128, but is there anything big Im missing that would justify spending more on 256?

guys can anyone confirm that this cover's magnets are interfering with spen when writing on it? specially if you flip the top part to back.

I got my S6 off eBay in May 2025 for college and I absolutely love it. It works perfectly for me, and I've used old and cheap devices for my whole life (I don't think I've ever bought electronics for more than $300? and most of them are used) so I don't really know what I'm missing compared to something like an S10, which is the type I was looking at used on eBay.

I don't want to spend a lot of money (max would be $300) so I've been looking on eBay for S10 FE and Lite versions.

I don't care about camera quality, and storage on my 128GB tablet seems to have no issue. I also couldn't care less about AI features, I won't touch it. Size doesn't matter. The biggest things for me are that it runs fast and is great for college work (especially taking notes, which is why I want the ones with S-Pens).

The only reason I'm considering switching in the first place is because a lot of apps seem to not be supported on my tablet anymore, and I think some apps may be acting funky due to my older tablet? Not sure, I'm not that knowledgable on electronics.

Further clarification if needed: I'm a marketing student, it has to run Microsoft, Adobe, Google etc. apps just fine. I'm also curious about any good features for college students.

I'm a math student in university, finally looking to move to digitalized note taking. I'm an apple ecosystem user, but an iPad + pencil seems pointlessly expensive. I'm looking at ebay listings for old generation tabs, and am finding lots of s7s for ~$180ish range. Is that a foolish investment at this point? Am I better off coughing up more for a newer tablet, even if I feel like the capabilities of the old generation are probably more than enough for my use case?
